Glasses instead? I am so grateful for contact lenses. Although, maybe Lasik someday...

I need to get back to Tales of Berseria and Toukiden Kiwami. I'm also kinda tempted to restart XCOM on PC since I keep reading so much about it. Maybe I'll try to check out ICO a little more. I'll probably just catch up on more TV shows instead.

Every now and then people tell me I should get contacts. It's because of stories like that I stick with glasses. I've never - not even once! - poked myself in the eye or got caustic chemicals on my retina while wearing glasses.

Once I shaved my head (and before I grew a beard), I looked sick with my contacts. I need the glasses to kind of break up the extreme paleness of my face.

Today was great!

For "work" I went to an expo put on by a local nursery. A friend was going as well, so we carpooled together. It was held at a nearby casino. We had free breakfast and lunch, attended some interesting seminars, and afterwards we were given two free drink tickets and a $10 voucher to gamble in the casino. I won $80!

One of the best "workdays" in my entire life.

Ugh I wish those things would die. I really don't get the appeal. They are ugly as sin. Like Precious Moments crossed with Bratz. A friend of mine has hundreds of them. Hundreds.

Agreed, glasses for life!

Sorry about your grandmother!

I read these threads every week but never participate anymore, I've gone full-on lurking. So let's fix that:

Nioh. I'm good at Dark Souls. I'm really bad at Nioh. For Honor finished downloading overnight, going to try that out. I've been on such a gaming black out lately that I have no idea what it is, though I heard it was "a fighting game for people who don't play fighting games" and that was enough to make me purchase.

I didn't pre-order so I have no hope of grabbing a Switch. I regret everything.

My eyes aren't shitty enough to justify lasik or contacts. Just shitty enough to require glasses to read anything more than 10 feet away. But I look great in them, so it works out.

I keep hearing about Nioh being a Japanese dark souls. How do they actually compare? I played all three dark souls games to completion, so I could be interested in Nioh.

Cheers for looking good in glasses! I recently got a new pair that I really like. Lots of compliments. Works for me.

Japanese Dark Souls, eh? Is that kind of like a French Assassin's Creed? An American Fallout? A Croatian Serious Sam?

It's clearly based on the Souls formula.

There's a lot of large differences, I highly recommend you check out a review, because I'm too lazy to try and cover them all on my phone. Polygon's is a good one.

I will say it shows its Team Ninja influence heavily.

I enjoy it a lot, and I find it easy more playable in short doses than Souls.

Yeah. I used to LIVE in the local EBs/Gamestops. Now I basically just wander into one if I happen to be in a mall (another rare occurence in this day and age) and need to kill time while my wife takes one of the kids boot shopping or something similar.

The fact that you almost have to look hard to find the actual videogames these days is sad, plus I've moved so much of my purchasing to digital that it's rare for anything to seem like a good deal anymore when I'm in the stores.

Yep... but it's just Gamestop without a rebranding on some of the stores. There are Gamestops too though.

YUP! I'll keep my glasses, thanks.

It's like a Souls game set in Japan, if that's what you mean. I haven't played myself but I hear that it's quite good and combines a lot of the best parts of both the Souls games and Bloodborne.

I saw recently that Demon's Souls was up for sale on the PSN now, or maybe it was streaming on PS NOW. I wish they'd remaster that game. It and Bloodborne were the 'souls' games that actually clicked for me and that I've made decent progress through.

Had a great day today at our annual big fun day (or as we call it, Fabulous Friday) event for the people supported in our district. I usually put in a full day and help with a lot of stuff and then go out with the bosses afterwards for a drink. After dinner the executive director (about 2 levels of leadership higher than me) told me that while she couldn't MAKE me go home, I had 10 minutes to go home because she was worried about my health

I stuck around about another half hour or so but then packed it in. I was exhausted anyway so it was nice to have someone to blame for my not hanging around longer... I mean, it was only a 13-14 hour day at that point...

Of course, that means I get to play more Night In The Woods tonight before bed instead of just getting home now!

Something along the lines of this?

Gamestop: "Would you like to buy the strategy guide as well?"
Me: "No"
Gamestop: "Would you like to insure the game for $5 more?"
Me: "No"
Gamestop: "Would you like to become a PowerUp Rewards member?"
Me: "No"
Gamestop: "You'll save 10% on your first purchase."
Me: "No."
Gamestop: "Would you like to preorder the new AAA game?"
Me: "NO! Just fucking sell me the game I brought to the counter!"
Gamestop: "We have a used copy of this game for virtually no price difference. Would you like that version instead?"
Me: "NO!"

Met up with four buddies of mine for happy hour and dinner. One of them, whom I've know since first grade, went through Scouts with, lived with for a year after college and I was a groomsman in his wedding, is moving to Missouri this weekend with his wife and stepson because of a job opportunity. Sucks. As we get older, the friends we have slowly move on to other things. After happy hour, we went to an $8 a hour pinball and retro gaming arcade until 10:00pm. A bunch of us said we would do a road trip this summer or fall to visit, but chances are I may never see him again.

Gaming this weekend will be Deus Ex: MD and Mario Kart 7 3DS. I also need to pick a new TV series to start binging.

You know, in their defense, they're forced to do this. My wife used to work retail as a manager, and corporate gave them a list of things that have to be offered/pitched at every transaction. EVERY ONE.

As a fairly experienced manager, she was quite good at picking up on cues from the customer and cutting short the pitch when needed, but J.Average.Employee doesn't usually have that skill.

And even if they do, God forbid the GM walks in and hears then going off script.

So if you want to be mad at someone, write a letter to the corporate office. Don't get on the case of the poor shmoe doing their job.

So, I guess this is one of those live-and-learn things about teaching, but never tell your students spelling doesn't matter on a test. I spent an ungodly amount of time trying to figure out if "pancakes" was an acceptable alternative to pancreas, or whether they really did think flapjacks were the part of the endocrine system that helps regulate blood sugar.
