Perfectly Nintendo has translated a recent Famitsu interview with Nintendo of Japan in which they tried to gleam any additional information on Nintendo Switch beyond the preview trailer that was released.

Some of the answers provided include backwards compatibility, is it a successor to WiiU, battery life, etc.

Well, I'm still hoping they have backwards compatible digital titles. I'm fine with that:

When asked whether the Nintendo Switch would be compatible with Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games, Nintendo replied that it wouldn’t be the case, as it’s not a successor to either platforms.

But there’s something really interesting about that answer: Nintendo clearly specifies that you will not be able to use Wii U game discs and Nintendo 3DS cards. Does that mean downloadable games and digital versions of games will be compatible, and that the lack of retro-compatibility for physical copies of games is only due to the expected lack of disc drive/3DS card slot?

I....am most likely going to have to track down either a 8 or 32GB system in the future. There are some games for the system I'd like to play since I didn't have the means to afford one back when it launched.

I keep looking, but they certainly haven't come down in price. Hopefully with the release of this system, it will.

I'm at the point where I'd (be desperate enough to) even take one of those Skylanders bundles, or others that I wouldn't normally look at otherwise, if it meant getting a system at a low enough price.

To further elaborate, this (Jan 12, 2017) event is for invited media, financial analysts and trade partners in Tokyo, where it will be held at Tokyo Big Sight. Pricing, launch date, and titles in current development will be livestreamed globally.

Then, from Jan 14-15, the general public will be invited for hands-on time with the system. The times will be announced through Nintendo's social networks.

For North America and Europe, their presentations will take place at a later date from Japan's. Those will be announced at a later date. (Nintendo Everything)

The touchscreen is potentially an odd inclusion: It makes sense when portable, but won't be useable when docked.

Maybe an option for on screen controllers (ala iPad games) when out and about without the need to use the controllers? Then, when you get home and docked, you can switch back to physical controllers.

Apparently it will be compatible with Micro SD up to 128GB. Can't wait to be able to carry several games on the device when I take it out and about.

That'd hold a bunch of goddamn games. If it has virtual console capability in it, you could carry everything worth playing on one card.

That's something that I really like, and well past the current maximum of 32GB that DSi/3DS supports.

For anyone who follows the series, Koei Tecmo of Japan has announced that they will bring the Nobunaga's Ambition franchise to Nintendo Switch. (Gematsu; sourced from Games Talk)

According to Takashi Mochizuki, Nintendo Switch game cartridges are rumored to be 16GB in capacity; around the same as a single-layer Blu-Ray disc. (GoNintendo)

One of GoNintendo's forum members translated an interview on french website Gameblog, in which Hajime Tabata has recently expressed interest in wanting to develop for Nintendo Switch.
