Revealed at Jump Festa 2017, Dragon Quest XI was announced for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. A Switch version was announced, though it wasn't mentioned in either the trailer, nor the game's teaser website.

The world is known as "Lotozetasia", with a world tree at its center. The world map is large enough to the point that you can travel by horse. There are two character descriptions for the protagonist and Camus, a thief that helps him out on his journey.

Below are videos of PlayStation 4/Nintendo 3DS gameplay, and Dragon Quest XI's stage event: (Gematsu)

I'm a big fan of DQVIII and was disappointed when they decided to focus on the DS exclusively. Glad to have them back on console.

Scans from the latest issue of Weekly Jump provide new images and details. (Gematsu)

Quote:
*The protagonist has a strangely shaped birthmark on his left hand. Something happens when it glows.

*Emma (first page, bottom left) is a close friend of the protagonist who says she’ll undergo the ritual to climb “God’s Rock” with him. The magazine asks, “What is it that they see there?”

*The Great Tree of Life (second page, top left) floats in the center of the world. It is said the hero can commune with the soul of the Great Tree.

*The magazine has a number of PlayStation 4 vs. 3DS comparison screenshots, including of the protagonist’s home village of Ishi in the middle of the second page. It’s a small and quiet village located in the valley.

*There’s a look at the battle system on the lower right of the second page. The PlayStation 4 version sees both the party and the series’ familiar monsters fully realized. The 3DS version shows both the party and monsters in 3D mode, and just the monsters in 2D mode.

From a 30th anniversary aired on NHK General TV, some new details have emerged.

Players will be able to camp. From there, they can replenish HP/MP, forge weapons, pray to a goddess statue, or patrol the area. In addition to riding a horse, players can eventually ride a dragon. (Gematsu)

*From the recent 30th anniversary special aired on NHK General TV, people were quick to observe that the 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI shows any party members following the hero during field exploration, compared to the PS4 version in which he travels alone.

*The OST for the title will be largely the same, each platform will have different arrangements. Koichi Sugiyama will once again compose the OST. It was revealed that he is currently tasked with completing the soundtrack within a week, with the theme song for example, having been written in five minutes. (Nintendo Everything)

This new Weekly Jump scan reveals a new character, two new monster types, and new details on the game's camping system:

The male character in the Jester-like garb is Sylvia (shirubia).
The monster with the needle is known as a "Mokokkii". The one with the lantern is known as a "Lantern Kozou" and it only appears on the field during nighttime.

PlayStation 4

*When approaching NPCs, you can hear their voices through the speech bubbles that appear over their head.
*When riding the horse you can attack monsters by ramming them with the horse's body.

*Camping: You can create a bonfire and set up camp. From here, you can rest, heal party members, and write in your adventure log (save progress). You can also talk with party members.

Nintendo 3DS

*Characters with a purple speech bubble may have a request to undertake.

*Camping: The same as the PS4 version, but a key difference is that exclusive to the 3DS version, you can purchase items at shops opened by travelling merchants.
