Dishonored DLC Announced

Bethesda has outlined their DLC plans for Dishonored. The first pack, 'Dunwall City Trials', is set for release in December for 400 MSP/$5. The Trials pack will consist of ten challenge maps which will test different skills, from drop assassination, to blink races to waves of enemies.

Additionally a pair of campaign DLC packs are planned for 2013. The first campaign DLC will focus on Daud, the assassin who killed the Empress and who has a set of supernatural abilities comparable to those of Corvo. The DLC will introduce new areas, abilities and gadgets when it's released in early Spring. Bethesda has not released any more on the third DLC pack.

Why do I even buy games when they release the first time any more?

Not sure about you, but I am damn near done buying games when they come out. It really is not worth the hassle anymore.

Newly released games are typically:

- Overpriced
- Incomplete
- Buggy
- Lack mods

Very few games are worth picking up at release. Maybe one or two a year. I just have so many unfinished games it doesn't make sense to buy when a game comes out. I've put my foot down and have not been buying anything while I attempt to reduce the pile of unplayed games. I anticipate the next game purchase I make will be during a black Friday deal. After that a winter steam sale.

And I've stopped. Just no point especially when a year from now I'll be able to get the game and all of the DLC for less than the price of the game new. Doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm with both of you. I've put off buying more than a few games this year because I know there'll be a GOTY version soon after. =/

Is the draw of DLC really that strong for you that you are willing to wait months to a year in order to get it included with the release? Getting GOTY means picking up the game after everyone else is sick of it, and forum threads here are dead. I generally don't pick up DLC, and therefore don't care about GOTY releases. I'd rather talk to folks here about a game then get some crappy DLC included.

No, but like mentioned, I have too much to play already, so I might as well wait till I get the complete package. No use buying something anymore just to stack it on my backlog, the money isn't worth it anymore.

Same goes for AC3

Thank you.

I've only just come to the same conclusion in the last couple of months myself. While everyone has been rushing out to pick up the latest wave of games I've been too busy (well playing Diablo and Witcher 2) to pick them up.

With the bug complaints, or the anouncements of DLC a few months after I have just decided I might as well defer buying these games until I see GOTY editions.

I enjoy hearing opinions but I don't get that wrapped up in my experience running parallel with everyone else that I'm going to pony up $60+ in order to do that. GOTY editions aside, I'm well behind the curve as it is when it comes to new releases that by the time I'd get around to playing it, it'll be around $20, maybe less which is perfect and I can then determine if there's any DLC that I want and I've gotten everyone's opinion on what is/isn't worth it.

When I can pick up games for $5-$10 via Steam sales, I have absolutely no reason anymore to buy something day one.

Indeed, although I wouldn't go as far as saying I will never buy a new game again, just a few of them, like Nino no Kuni or Okami HD will still get a sale from me. But games like Borderlands 2, Sleeping Dogs or Dishonered can wait just fine until I can get the complete pack. I don't need those games, I just want to check em out eventually.

I'd be interested in more campaign/story, but it will depend on how much they want for it.

Rails? The DAY/END threads don't need no stinking rails, they just meander like a drunk looking for a bench to flop down on~ Gorvi

Hell, 'derail'? This is like calling the surface of the sun 'warmish'. Somewhat lacking in appropriate magnitude~ Jpublic

That's too applied for my tastes. Math makes the most sense to me when it's reality bending abstraction. Or when it's evil~ Frederec
