They've become Microsoft, basically.
Well, and like I said upthread, they haven't really done anything all that interesting since 10.5, which was 5 years ago. The competition has not only caught up with them, but generally surpassed them in that time.

When your OS is a major reason for charging a price premium, it kind of needs to be better.

Yup. Windows 7 is, frankly, more effort already than Apple has put into an OS since 10.5.

Which is sad, because, as I've said many times before, I think 10.5 is the best OS I have ever used.

Extremely disagree. Effort in regard to progress from the last version maybe, but OS X is still way ahead in terms of robustness and usability. I use Win7 more than any other OS and it is a never ending barrage of "how in the hell did they think this was a remotely good design decision" moments. Honestly, they can't even guarantee a consistent save dialog across all the software.

Still ultimately a souped up Civic to Apple's BMW.

Are you kidding? OS X's memory manager is terrible. God help you if you hit swap, which is way easier to do with X than NT6 or Linux.

I guess you could mean something else by robustness. I'm defining it as "doesn't shit the bed when you actually try to do something."
