Creating collections does not mean the book won't appear in your reading list.

Agreed. And that's a complaint I have with the Kindle. But that's not what National Kato asked to do.

You aren't missing anything, I have a 3G Kindle and consider the feature to be worthless.

Yeah, it was a minor quibble, really. It doesn't take any more time than turning a physical page, but is more noticeable when waiting for menus and non-reading stuff.

I'll have to give that a try - looks like it addresses what I was referring to. Thanks!

Probably is as WiFi becomes more ubiquitous.

Solar Kindle Cover

Looks neat, and has a light. And damn, this is after I just purchased my Lighted cover for my Touch. Although my cover fits like a glove.

off topic, but why does a subscription to the New York Times cost $20/month?

To you can get the new Kindle with Ads for 79.00 but you'll also get a $30 gift card. Starts 4/29.

http://slickdeals.net/f/4238918-kind...s-4-29?&page=2

I might grab one just so I can use the lending library features.

Why would anyone want to take up the already small screen with ads? That's ridiculous. Who wants to be served ads while reading? As a huge proponent of Adblock this irritates me. Save up an extra $30 an get the regular version.

There are no ads while reading. Ads only appear at the bottom on the home screen and aren't intrusive. They also appear as screen savers. Again, they don't get in the way in the least.

Having seen them I know this. They sound of ads is annoying enough but they aren't bad at all. And again, NOT on the screen while reading.

And again in my case if I did it, it would like a $40 library card. So I can get the free lending library books. I read on my tablet. I don't have eye strain issues.

The ads are so unobtrusive, and they have lead me to some deals on items that I was thinking of grabbing, some books as well as some other items. So one could say I saved the $30, then saved more afterwards. Of course the cynics in the audience might say I might never have bought those other items, thus saving more.

I greatly prefer the ad screensavers to the creepy ass pictures of Emily Dickinson that I had as screensavers on my old kindle.

They are usually quite tastefully done images, and rarely even show any brand names. There are many that just show a flower floating on a pool, and a little bit of text saying "half off spa treatments in Portland" or something like that. Then there is one banner add along the bottom of the screen while you are in the menu. Other than that, no difference from the normal one.

edit: To illustrate...

This

vs. This

I had all of my Nook ones replaced with Final Fantasy concept art. Worked really well with e-ink.

So, I stepped on my Gen1 nook by accident, and I got a Nook SimpleTouch at a reduced price (in trade for my borked one)

I like it a lot! Zippy little device, very small, and very responsive to my touch. The only sad part is losing my Sudoku.

They've got a new one out tomorrow that has optional lighting included, I bet that will also be a spiffy product. I've found that the hardware side of Nook impresses me more than Kindle - probably because B&N has to to stay competitive!

Meh to the new nook. I grabbed the lighted cover for my Kindle Touch and it is great. Battery still lasts a good long while.

It's the same hardware inside, with the same screen and manufacturer.
