Hybrid (XBLA)

So apparently 5th Cell's Hybrid starts its closed beta period this Friday, and I figured I'd at least post here to see if anyone from CoG happened to receive an invite. Also, since there doesn't seem to be a NDA for the game I figured that this might be a good place for people that are in the beta to post impressions and for them to find people to play with. Since the beta doesn't go live til 11:00 AM PDT Friday, I guess the thread should be a little devoid of impressions until then.

How do you get into this beta?

They had a sign up for it a little over a month ago. I don't think anyone posted about it on CoG when they had registration open.

I wasn't aware of this game until a couple of days ago, but it looks really interesting.

Played the beta a bit. It's a little...strange. It's probably the best console implementation of the jetpack shooter I've ever seen. Levels are fairly small and you move almost exclusively by moving from cover point to cover point. But while you're in the air you can alter your trajectory, shoot and even move towards another cover point. It's a little tough to see enemies at times, but I think that may be part of the game (a perk you can choose highlights them for a short time).

I can't quite say yet if it's a good game, or just a unique one. I had fun in the few matches I played though.

I've been playing the beta as well now and I have to agree. It's very different. I'm having quite a bit of fun, I just stink at it too. Need ot get used to the cover only mechanic, and to watching my back. You die extremely fast if you're not in cover.

Also, for those who want in: Gamespot is giving out a ton of keys to US residents. Just got mine through there as well.

Somehow I managed to get a key, I think I might've signed up on the official site when it first opened, and had it downloaded last night. Having had a go at it yet, but definitely will see what it looks like. It looks interesting from the trailers.

Well, post some impressions people.

Personally: Love the game, but man, get on a bad team and you may as well just sit there picking your nose for all the good it'll do. Team work's pretty much essential.

Also, some of the weapons seem a weeeee bit cheap.
