That video made me not want to buy the game frankly. It seems just as dull as the first one and the crap inside the lab (killing people, lifting tables, nobody raises an eyebrow) seems rather crude.

I wanted to like the first, and the first half of the game really was enjoyable for me. It just really turned to shit towards the end, so mcuh so that unless I hear stellar things about this one I won't touch it.

Yeah the first game had a boring start, it got good about an hour or so in, then just fell into repetition hell after awhile. Those stupid hard to kill mutants running on all fours were annoying as hell and killed the game for me. I know two people who loved the first Prototype and I have absolutely no idea why.

I think it boils down to being poor balance.
You start off relatively weak, and it's difficult, but in a challenging way, then you start to rocket into the powers and become a roof jumping, murdering menance and it's a ton of fun, then the game decides your too powerful, so they seem to have built the latter part of the game to throw a ton of cheap enemies and scenarios at you to make it more challenging, which in the end just makes it a frustrating mess. I built my guy with a certain skill set, only to find I'd reach enemies of parts of the game that were nigh impossible till I grinded out to get the abilities to make those fights easier. I got cockblocked on the final boss by this and had to redo the whole end with the 'right' powers. Also when I'm a monster badass, I don't want to have to play 'hide from the helicopters' all the freaking time. Killing them only ever gave me a repreave I think. If they sort the balance out, it could be fun, but I don't feel like getting burned again.

I agree with everything you just said Narradisall. First it was too easy, then they hit the sweet spot, then it went all to frustration hell with a swarm of too-hard-to-kill enemies.

Yeah, I believe there was, I remember, as the game starts off with you being uber powered (a story jump from the future then back to the start of the game) and then it runs through the early parts of the game. I'm sure the demo did that. Ofc the demo showed you awesome bits of the game, and it wasn't till much later that balance became an issue.
I'll still give a demo a whirl if one comes up.

I didn't find it that hard, not frustratingly so at any rate. The game always gave you multiple ways to power up if a specific fight gave trouble
I had tons of fun with the first game, so this was a rare pre-order for me.

I was going to post this trailer as well.
Personally I like this video, between Johnny Cash's rendition of Hurt and the the way the trailer is setup, it is badass imo.

UHG...30 fucking minutes of cutscenes at the very starting. NO thanks. God damnit.
ON the other hand it looks to be prettier but whomever decided to make you basically go through a 30+ minute cutscene/tutorial at the starting needs to be burned to death...jezuz. I understand wanting to set up a story but that is asking a great deal...especially for the action loving player.

As I already covered, as long as you had the "right" powers, you could get through fights. Still doesn't make them any less annoying if you have to back track and grind because "you were playing it wrong".

I didn't mind that trailer, but they have a way to go to put any feeling and story into the game.

All the previews everywhere talk about it. IGN went into a bit more detail and don't seem as negative about it. What worries me is everyone talks about it. Which means to me it may be REALLY noticeable whether you are ok with it or hate it. I really do not like the idea personally.

Ah ok. I don't mind games doing long intro's it is skippable or well done. I'm still hopeful this may turn out to be a good game, but I fear it's timing is going to be poor for me.
