Halo 4 discussion

I know it's not coming until fall, but there's been some info released about it I found interesting and needed a place to discuss it.

So since Marty O'Donnell isn't doing the soundtrack this time around, I was a bit worried.
But I found out that Neil Davidge from Massive Attack covering it, and I like what I hear so far.

Anyway, 343 certainly have some big shoes to fill, and here's to hoping they are successful.

This may be the first Halo game I don't buy. Not a fan of when series lose their original developers.

I'll give it a shot. As much as people bag on Halo games, I want to give the game a fair shake at the very least. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised, if they turn it into a steaming pile of shit, not a huge deal, I'm not out a ton of money. I've been a fan long enough to certainly try things out.

Halo-haters break down into 3 groups:

1. People who don't see what the fuss is all about. Sure, it's a good game, but getting excited and staying in line for a cat helmet?

2. People who resent Halo for making FPS the highest selling genre on consoles and thus making PC the red-headed stepchild of this genre it used to have as the shiniest jewel in it's crown; and

3. Sony Defense Front and WiiBabies out for all things Xbox.

Belonging to any one of those groups could cause someone to post obnoxiously about Halo. That doesn't make it a bad game.

As for Halo 4. . . well, I'm not getting another Xbox 360 after so many died. Maybe I can try it at a friend's house.

It hasn't been the "original" Halo developers since Seropian left.

CE:A was an excellent remake of the first game and well worth the money. While I'm with you on the developer issue, this may be the exception because I've spoken to some 343 staff and their love for the series is undeniable.

I own and love every Halo game. The PC still has the best FPS experiences, no contest.

Not if you played co-op online. It was so buggy and laggy that is was basically unplayable.

True. I loved Halo 2 MP only because it was the only console game in town and introduced party and matchmaking. But now that every game does it, it made me see just how much I dislike Halo's current MP. My friends and I buy every single Halo made and we go through it in 4 player co-op then sell the game off.

I just think I'm done with the series. I feel that the game needed to end and so did Bungie and that is why they walked away. It's good to let series die sometimes.

Ya loved it. I have beaten in 4 times co-op. Can not even describe the fun I have had with it.

Except for AI of course. Techwise pretty much the whole industry considers it a highpoint.

I think the only value Halo brought was multiplayer and tight FPS controls on consoles. Those are just really eye-opening features to be first introduced to so I think a lot of love Halo has received was due to that.

Of course many fans will disagree but if Halo Anniversary Edition was the first Halo game released it would be wrecked by consumers.
