Have you played the original Fallout?

Only if you count less than an hour of playtime in the last couple days... which I don't.

Several times.

But Fallout 2 I couldn't finish because there was a bug that prevented me from completing a critical quest.

Fallout Tactics I played but never finish. And everything afterward I played and finished, except a couple DLC, which I rarely get in the first place.

Love the Fallout Universe.

I have played it a few times over the years, and I still find it to be the most enjoyable of all the Fallouts. Fallout 2 is the better game, but I find Fallout 1 to be the more enjoyable playthru.

Love me some Fallout 1 & 2. Remember randomly getting the demo on a PC Gamer Demo CD and going nuts.

Bigger, funnier, more to do, never ended, more everything. I find it difficult to think of one thing Fallout 1 did better.

Sure, although, if it's less enjoyable, does any of that make it "better"?

I've played through all the fallouts multiple times. I prefer Fallout 2 over Fallout, but they are both very enjoyable.

If it is found less enjoyable, I think the flaw lies in the mind of the person who thinks that. Not to worry, though, as it's probably something terrible which can only bring enjoyment to those who already think correctly as they watch the flawed person die badly.

Fallout 2 is the better game from a technical point of view. It is a bigger game with more to do, and a more complex story system. However, more to do and a complex story system can derail what you wanted to get out of the game. You can break large sections of the game without meaning to.

Fallout 1 has a tighter story; the story is what I consider to be the more enjoyable aspect of playing thru the two games.

Conclusion: I love them both. I enjoy 1 more than 2, but think 2 is the better technical game.

I never finished the second however. Never got too far for some reason. Always flounder early on, and I've tried about 3 times. Weird.

And now for the heresy: I didn't really like them. The post-apocalyptic setting turns me off, and while I admire the game's mechanics, neither the story nor the gameplay entice me. I eventually realized I was treating it like a chore rather than a diversion, so I turned it off.

Fallout 2 was the best Fallout, I have some great memories of that game. Anyone roll a guy with no intelligence? Hilarious.

I've tried a number of times to play the original, but I missed it the first time around and have only tried it after really liking Fallout 3. Loved Fallout 3, yet have a hard time getting into the first one.

Gotcha. Probably there are other modern games that are obviously far ahead of either game technically, but still perhaps not the "better game". I see what you're getting at, though.
