So in other words, anything blog-like, unless I'm using something like RapidWeaver where it's rendering all the pages to plain HTML locally before uploading, and even then I may still need dynamic pages to cover comments.

That would be correct.

Easy ecommerce, most likely for one item. Will something like Etsy be fine? Or any other options?

And what is the best and easiest way to get this project out there for people to bid on? There will actually be a RFP.

Agreed, I just figured I'd throw out some more options since a couple people covered the managed hosting already.

I ended up using Namecheap for the Domain registration, it was not a smooth run.

Through their site failed twice and they only take Visa or MC. So I tried Paypal, it looked like it worked, but when viewing my invoice it said failed...

But I did a Live Chat and it appeared I did actually register the domain through Paypal, and the account now reflects that. They did not offer any explanation, nor did I ask, but it was an easy and helpful experience for support.

How much did the pleasure come out to total and for which services. Genuinely interested, I'm tired of GoDaddy.

So far I've spent a whopping $10 on NearlyFreeSpeech, and that was only for a domain name.

If you don't mind, can you tell me more about it? What seperates you from other people? Did you setup your own server for this? Amazon has pretty amazing hosting where you pay for what you use that can be remarkably cheap when you use enough bandwidth, have you heard of that? Target market? Did you develop the site yourself? Interested in PHP work? Any other info?

Also, you've been around 2002 as you say on the website? How come you switched domain hosts?

Whoah whoah, slow down there turbo.

I'm just setting up a little website for a publishing label. I went with NFS because their usage-based pricing is good for a niche user like me. Old-school roleplaying games about flying squid don't exactly bring on the hits.

I still have yet to even put a page on the domain yet, that'll go up tomorrow in all likelihood.

Oooh! That explains it, I thought that was the website you developed! I feel silly , but do keep us updated. If you need help with anything website related, don't hesitate to message me.

So am I correct to assume that the Coffee program you were going to try is not up to snuff?

None of the programs I used were up to the snuff of RapidWeaver. The closest was Artisteer, but it's templates are ludicrously restrictive, so ultimately I got one of our CoG boys to whip me up a quick template I could edit by hand.
