When diablo 2 beta launched the level cap was 12 and you only had access to barbs and the quests up to killing blood raven, still was a blast.

I'd play that. A slowed down Diablo game where each class has motion activated spells for fun? Oh wait, the problem is that the wii lacks the input fidelity required for it. |

I foresee this game eating up a lot of my gaming time for some time...
I'm actually trying to rush through all my backlog before the next 6 weeks ends, and not picking up anything new, as I know this will easily consume a month, even if I end up hating and not wanting to replay it. If it's anything as addictive and fun as I had with D2, I could lose a lot more time....

I got mine from a contest. I think they're not sending out anymore themselves.

Eurgh, on second thoughts, given the hoops people set up for you to get keys, I'll just wait the 6 weeks.

So, what do we think Diablo 3 pvp will actually turn out to be? I know Blizzard was always saying how casual and non competitive it will be, but cutting it this close to release for sometime later and taking into account how positive the reactions to it were, do we dare to hope for something a little more exciting?
No Blizzcon this year, instead going all in with esports and Starcraft 2 world championship, I expect we see major push with Blizzard DOTA, but what about D3? I never got the beta, but from the videos I saw, the engine looks slick, fast and juicy, do I dare to dream we get "real" Blizzard style pvp?

Open World: Just like the normal game, only people can invade and hunt you down. Think the PVP in Demon's Souls. Even better if you can have your group of people fight someone else's. Arena: I think this one is actually what they're striving for. You compete with your gear against someone else roughly your level. Teams may or may not exist, but I'd bank that they would. Aside from that, I don't know what they'd do.

I believe they are going arena based. Personally I never minded the PvP in D2 when people would drop in to try and gank you, but I would like the option to join or create games where the pvp option is on or off.
Sometimes its just an annoying distraction from the co-op. Hardcore would be fun, and perminant.

I don't think they are gonna put too much effort into it. Let's face it, they don't need to court the competitive element at all. The game will do insanely well without it. And if they don't, why do it? This sorta stuff is just an invitation for stupid whiny fans to makes lots of demand and I'm sure any developer could live without that.

There's also a Demon Hunter spotlight from last week: |

I actually found the site with that spotlight and did that whole banner making thing that gives you sigils in the game. Seems they are doing one each week until release.
Also - lol, I tried the Blizzard twitter contest, which basically requires people to watch the feed until a beta code comes on. I thought I'd have a go while I watched tv and just left the feed there. When it came up, I took under 5 seconds from it appearing to typing it into my account, and it was already taken. I then saw they are doing a total of 8, yes eight, keys in total this week. Think I cant wait the 34 odd days instead. Thousands of people are going to watch a twitter feed from anywhere up to 9 hours a day for a week, for the chance at 8 codes. That's just cruel.

I'm not fussed about it, as I have plenty to keep me busy in the meantime. I've never been a twitter user before (still am not I deleted the account within a day of making it) but I gave it a ligght thought and those contests are horrible to your customer base.
For example, with the blizzard one, you basically force thousands (probably) of people to sit at their desks watching a feed for up to 9 hours for a chance at a key. Someone already said that programmes had been set up to scan the feed and imput the code the moment it comes up into a bnet account. So unless you can be faster than the milliseconds it takes for a computer to do it, those thousands of people spending hours and hours watching a feed have no chance in winning. I imagine most twitter contests likely follow that principle? I think fan sites etc are probably doing a better job of the contests with their keys.
