There are any number of good Japanese restaurants in Portland, the area has a high population of Japanese and other Asian immigrants. The Beaverton/Aloha area these days is mostly populated by Asian-American families and even has it's own Uwajimaya store (though it's a lot more run down and less well equipped than the more famous one in Seattle.)

I find Springfield infinitesimally more accessible and likable than Eugene however.
