Schoolwork saw my attempts at writing and decided to put a bullet in its face.

Called the time of death already. It's really hard to convince yourself to write something fun when you have a 30-page paper that determines your graduation status looming over your shoulder :P

Yup, i didn't make it. The writing tapered off and turned into song lyrics and random poetry. I mean, I suppose if all those words count I'm still on track, but I haven't touched my NaNo story in some time. I kept wanting to make people's head's explode and tentacles come pouring out of their stumps or have them attacked by sinister cat-dragons or whatever.

I once again became bogged down in November activities other than writing. This is my first year attempting NaNo while being in school and that added one more thing to my busy November. It truly is the worst month to attempt to write a novel. In short, I've failed yet again.

The good news, however, is this. NaNoWriMo in August sounds right up my alley. No school (or barely starting), no holidays, no hunting, no fishing. My Augusts tend to be boring; perfect for writing a novel.

I failed, stopping around 25K. The hassles of buying a house have loomed over my writing. On top of that I seemed to be busy every weekend in November, so that didn't help either. I will be continuing on and will finish this, though not this month.

Cracked 50k with a few hours to spare. That's 7 for 7 for me. I love November.

Congrats, Crittias! Did it turn out like you imagined or take a few new twists and turns? If you need a set of eyes, let me know.

I wish November was more kind to me. I think I'll set my sights on August and CampNaNo next time.

It's following the general direction I'd envisioned pretty closely. Some of the details are a bit off the beaten path though, so that's always fun. I'm still nowhere close to finishing the story, though. I'm guessing I'm about 2/3 of the way there?

Come on guys have to do better. We only have two winners this year? Jack and Crittias?

I do like what shunoshi pointed out. November isn't the best month for some.

I may not have finished, but I'm not stopping. I'm still making notes and adding things when I come up with them so they're there when I have the time to use them.

Ditto. That reminds me, hey Crittas. I know you totally hate Scrivener. Mind claiming a 50% off coupon for me.

Congrats, guys!

Oh, and I'd be into a Scrivener 50% off if there are any extra available.

Info from their website.

Quote:
50% Discount for All NaNo 2011 Winners
If you achieve your 50,000 words to become a NaNoWriMo 2011 Winner, you will be eligible for a 50% discount off the regular licence of Scrivener (which is normally $45 for the Mac version and $40 for the Windows version). Details will appear on your "I Wrote a Novel. Now What?" page around December 2nd.

20% Discount for Everyone Else
Even if you don't make your 50,000 words this year, you can still get 20% off the regular price of Scrivener by entering the discount code "NANOWRIMO" into the coupon code text field of our online web store.
Note to Windows users: At the time of writing, Scrivener for Windows isn't on sale yet, so the version for download here is a special pre-release version. Scrivener for Windows will be available for purchase on 31st October, though, so there will be plenty of time for you to use the 20% discount.

I'm already getting pretty excited for this year's NaNoWriMo. This year I'm going to try a short story collection rather than a single novel. Today I gathered up and summarized seven ideas I've had floating around my head for the past few years. I'm really looking forward to delving into them.

I've never had the dedication to try this before, but I've been kicking some ideas around with friends and going over some jottings the last few months. I'm willing to give this a try, despite never having done any serious writing for years.

Do it. I never did much writing until I tried the first time 2 years ago, and it definitely got me to write more in general.
