Black Friday deals...
I know its early to start thinking about this, but I'm curious about something.
Do Black Friday deals usually happen online as well? I've been eying for an HP laptop and wanted to take advantage of lower prices for a standard laptop, something simple and still capable of playing games on Steam.

Yes, there are usually good online deals as well. It used to be 'Cyber Monday' when all the online deals happened, but more and more are starting early. In fact, there will probably be some good deals happening prior to Black Friday online.

Ah yes, I remember Cyber Mondays, I wonder if that'll happen this year. I'm sure I'll be able to take advantage of something.

Great place to keep track of what is happening. Also pay attention to Slickdeals BF forum. If we are lucky, someone might do another HUGE BF excel file, which you can break everything down, by type, store, genre. Awesome.

I was considering a certain HP, but now I'm looking at the ASUS G53 Series.
Things seem to start earlier and earlier every year. Last year, the outlet mall 10 miles away opened at 10pm on Thanksgiving night for an extra 15% off their BF sales. Also, if you have a specific item in mind, be aware that certain retailers aren't allowed to advertise certain deals by brand/item number. Last year, I got a TV at Fry's. And the ad only said 55" 3D LED 240Hz - $997. I had to plug those specs into Google and realize I was going to be bringing home either a Sony or a Toshiba. It is an awesome Sony. Slickdeals.net will be following BF with the best of them. |

Ah, black friday. That special time of year where I somehow have no money. Let's see if I can keep up tradition and be flat broke again this year, too.

I rigged it so that I have Black Friday off naturally this year (I don't work Fridays anymore), as BF is one of my favorite days of the year. I look forward to the sales like crazy.
Last year I didn't buy much because I had Gamefly and beat most of the fall games as they came out. This year I don't so more is up for grabs. The Buy 2 get one free sales aren't really deals to me. You're still paying $40 a game, which to me isn't cheap enough. $20 or less or fail!

Honestly, Black Friday is always interesting, but I am usually only looking for a few deals. I add them to MyDeal alerts in SD, if they are not already there, then see what pops up. I pop into BF deal thread to gauge their authenticity as well as how much of a deal it really is, or even alternatives. I might pop into Walmart on BF to see what deals are there, as well as to see the chaos humanity creates upon itself.

I have honestly never done anything for Black Friday. I'd rather spend the extra money and sleep in and not have to deal with walls of people all clamoring.
Digital is different as you just click a button but I can't fathom going to a store on that day.

I am much more picky these days though. Gone are the days where I'd jump on a $10 just because. Stuff like Fracture and Afro Samurai, even though I liked Fracture. Heck, I'm balking at $20 LA Noire right now on Amazon. I just don't have the time like I used to.

![]() I have exceptions to the rule, but for videogames I always go the cheap route. I'm not really a cheapass with most things, but games are one area of my life I strive to get the best deal. Because I think they are all overpriced to begin with.
