Red Dead Redemption: Free Multiplayer DLC Coming in September

Before they let their 2010 hit Red Dead Redemption ride off into the dusty sunset, Rockstar Games has announced an upcoming free DLC multiplayer pack as a "thank you" to their fans.

Entitled "Myths and Mavericks", the bonus pack will feature new MP characters, new locations for MP gametypes such as deathmatch and grab the bag, as well as reversing Undead Overrun back to the way it behaved at initial release. (no details given, presumably this refers to the tweaks on game behavior during sudden death)

"Myths and Mavericks" pack is expected to release over XBox Live! and PSN.

I don't believe this game ever came out on PC anyway, so this pack has been announced for all platforms this game is available on.

Yup, RDR is consoles only, and so far they haven't announced any plans on porting it to the PCs.

I still enjoy the MP in this game. Such polish. Wish they had more 3x and 4x weekends, though, since I'm so close to maxing rank and have never done that before.

Ah, I was misunderstanding the PC angst in some of the commentary on the news links I was reading.

Agreed! Also, I guess I should finish the damn game, as I'm only barely into Mexico. :\ And then finish LA Noire!

It would be nice if they'd release this on the PC, but I stopped holding my breath for that long ago.

MachEnergy, I'm pretty sure that I've only ever finished 2 open world games: Saints Row 2 and Red Dead. Usually, I do some missions and have some fun causing havoc in the world before moving on to other games. Saints Row 2 was just so much fun that I never really got tired of it, but Red Dead really sucked me in with the setting and story. It's really worth finishing.

I really liked the multiplayer in Red Dead, but I wish that the missions allowed more players. It's fun clearing out the strongholds, but you can only do that so many times. Still, I wouldn't be surprised at all if my weekly gaming group took it back up after we've worked our way through L4D 1 & 2.

Red Dead multi can be a lot of fun with the right people. Myself and a couple of friends found some fort on a hill and made it home, fighting off all the NPCs and other players that tried to get into our fort.
It was like being a kid playing cowboys and indians. Awesome.

The one with all the cannons? Yes, that one is excellent for hootin' it up against other players and/or going for the public enemy achievements.

By the way, starting right now through midnight is Triple XP in RDR and Undead Nightmare multiplayer.
