*(#$&(% you Crysis!
I just have to rant about this buggy fucking broken game.
I finally get to the end of the game. First of the final battles, all of a sudden the game starts crashing about 30-60 seconds into the game. Happens a few times, apparently it's fairly common due to a memory leak or something. But apparently switching to DX9 mode fixes it. So I get past that part, fight the big bastard, get to the part where you use the big gun to kill it, blow him up, but in the process I fall into a hole with fire. Of course, the game chooses that moment to auto-save, so I die and every time I reload I just die instantly. Good times. So I reload a save from 10 seconds ago. Get to the part where I fire the big gun for the final time, the shot goes up into the boss and...nothing. Nothing happens at all. The entire game just gets stuck. I can move around and keep firing, but nothing is happening. I try loading back a couple minutes before the final fight even starts and the same thing happens. I guess the next step is to restart the entire final level. Seriously, fuck this broken game. /rant off |

Well there's your problem, you actually played the single player.
The only reason to play Crysis is to mod it and play Mechwarrior:LL.

To be honest, I haven't actually played it. Our copy of Crysis disappeared like a year and a half ago, so I haven't been able to install it.
I just really didn't like Crysis SP.

That part of the game is so stupid, both story wise and gameplay wise, you're better off not playing it anyway. How it actually ends is just so bad. The good levels are big sandbox ones before you get to the spaceship.
From the looks of it Crysis 2 will be like the post-spaceship levels so fuck that game. |

While I agree that the later levels of Crysis are terrible, I love the core game there, especially once you start tweaking it to your likes.
The later levels in the first game are quite awful though. They drop the sandbox design and fun predator like hunting if enemy bases and turn it into a bad corridor type shooter with unfun aliens to kill. Warhead is a much better game, both in terms of stability and fun.

Might give Warhead a try then. After FarCry went Dr. Moreau and Crysis (hunts for a similar metaphor but fails) just turned crap when the aliens show up, I wasn't holding out much hope for Crysis 2.
Maybe Warhead will have enough to make me interested in checking out the next Crysis. |

Yeah I hated that last part (on the boat I think?), I kept falling through the fucking floor into the ocean.

Also, the AI really bothered me in the game too. It seemed like hiding was useless, as the moment you fired the first shot, even with the silencer, every enemy knew exactly where you were. Especially those goddamn boats a half a mile away shooting at me when I can't even see them due to all the heavy foliage I'm surrounded by.

Obviously your PC isn't magical enough to play it.

I had a similar problem with the end boss. I would start the final battle and my frame rate would go from decent to around 5fps the further along I got in the fight until the game crashed. I switched to the 32-bit executable and it worked just fine after that.

Goronmon, I had all the exact dame issues with the last level as you. I did reload a save from much earlier in the level and it allowed me to finish, but it was annoying as hell. Also, it wasn't really worth it, so if the frustration gets to be too much, you can just stop and you won't really miss anything good.

I've played through it multiple times on multiple PCs....sounds like it's your system
![]() I'm sure for every PC game ever made there's someone out there who had it crash on their particular system. I've never heard anything that makes me believe that Crysis is particularly buggy and I base that off of spending years in the Far Cry and Crysis fan/mod community. Crysis has always been surrounded by issues with it's hardware requirements but not it's stability. Quote:

Were you running it using DirectX9 or 10? Despite running fine the whole game, the second to final boss battle with DX10 it would just start stuttering, not like framerate dips, but as in loading into memory stuttering, and then eventually freeze up entirely. Forcing it to run DX9 fixed that completely.

Maybe prone is the key. Actually hiding behind things didn't seem like it did any good. There were times where I could here enemies firing at me through the other side of the wall of a building. It felt like someone got lazy programming the Line of Sight on the AI.

I guess I just take offense at the TS calling it a "buggy fucking broken game" when it sounds like he had issues with only one part of the game and his experience isn't representative. |

I just didn't find foliage useful. On more than one occasion I was shot at without provocation through huge amounts of foliage where I could not even see the enemy on the other side, just the tracers coming at me. This is in addition to the boats I complained about earlier. Last edited by Goronmon; 11-15-2010 at 09:48 AM. |
