Valkyria Chronicles 3 Confirmed for TGS

More evidence that a new Valkyria Chronicles is on the way came via a Tokyo Game Show schedule found by Andriasang:

According to the schedule, on September 16 there will be an announcement of the voice cast along with a showing of the game. The platform is still unclear. The original Valkyria Chronicles was a PS3 exclusive while the sequel was only released on the PSP.

You can also check out the teaser site for more information on the 16th.

Source - Andriasang.

My feeling would be PS3 but I have no real basis for that! I have about 8 hours clocked on the first game and want to get back to it one day.

I just hope they return to something more akin to Valkyria 1 in story and writing. Ugh.

Still, day 1, even if I'll want to press start through every cutscene.

I really hope it's a PS3 sequel, but honestly, I'd buy it on GBA if that's how they decided to release it.

I'm hoping for 360/PS3 release with turn based MP.

As the whole PS3 exclusive thing is stupid with the cost porting and potential sales.
I never got why the first was PS3 only.

I remember hearing about this. If true, they switched from 360 to PS3 development for some reason.

I believe the artbook shows some early concept work for PS2, though.

Keeping this game on the lowest selling systems will only keep in the tradition of stupid SEGA mistakes. If it's not multiplatform, it's one of the dumbest business decisions of all time and an insult to the team as nothing in this game requires it to be exclusive.

Gotta love the retarded gnashing of teeth for anything not put on the almighty 360.

Agreed, though I'm also partial to hoping for the PS3 as the platform for this one (and for a slightly more serious take than VC2, though I'm fine with VC2's style).

Right up there with Decca not signing the Beatles, Mars turning down Spielberg and E.T., Western Union turning down the telephone, and ABC declining to air The Cosby Show.

Surely, this is right up there with those.

In general, SEGA has been a JRPG/SRPG fan's worst enemy of late. They have a bunch of really good games/franchises and they just sort of toss them out at the stupidest times with no marketing, usually up against big games that trounce them. Then we all have to sit here and worry that they won't make any more.

This year in particular really showcased their ineptitude in general.

Never said anything about just the 360. I said multiplatform which means PC, 360, Wii, and DS. Sega is very stupid for only releasing this game so far on the lowest selling userbase systems. The series is already multiplatform, they just need to add more platforms.

You could say the same about any platform exclusive, it's not like the difference in userbase is all that large these days.

And I do. Smart companies like EA and Take2 (Bioshock and Mass Effect) realized that this was a mistake and have corrected it. Sega needs money and makes every other game multiplatform and it's stupid business sense for them not to put this on more platforms. This thing would have exploded on the DS.

Btw... Did you really just say the difference between the DS and PSP userbase isn't that big?

Does anyone know why the original was pulled from the 360? I'm pretty sure Sega likes money as much as the next company so I'm guessing they had a legitimate reason. Regardless, I think everyone has a right to complain about exclusivity on consoles but I also think companies base their decision on their available resources and 'deals' that bring them the most income. I wouldn't call it a dumb business move unless I had some info to back it up. Actually, I probably would but that wouldn't make me right.

Valkyria Chronicles would look like wet ass on the DS... The 3D over-the-shoulder perspective is what gives the game a large part of it's charm, and DS can't do 3D for shit. The 3DS looks to fix that, but the original DS? No thanks.

Not many people own a 360 in Japan, and this game has only a niche following in North America. A niche following that plays a lot of Japanese games, and thus owns a PS3.

The PSP is arguably the most popular gaming system in Japan at the moment. It may not have made much sense for the North American market, but that's not what they were looking at.
