Valve Announces TF2 Contest: Describe the Hats!

Team Fortress 2 has quite a predicament on its hands. You see, the game has a lot of hats, and none of them have any sort of description to them. The writers at Valve have simply given up, and so the community has an opportunity to fill in.

Fans have been mailing us for some time now, asking for a contest that didn't involve modeling or level design. So now they get their wish. That's right: you'll be competing over who can describe hats the best. Introducing the first ever TF2 Hat Describing Contest. In it, you can compete with other fans to write fictional missives about the glory of your favorite TF2 hat, with the prize of getting your words right into TF2 itself. The text will show up in the item descriptions, so it should be short and fun.

In addition to the contest, Valve also revealed that purchasing Team 17's brand new Worms Reloaded gave via Steam will net you a brand new hat for Soldier, along with a stunning pair of Holy Hand Grenades.

No deadline (that I could find) on the contest, so I suggest you writerly-types should get cracking as soon as possible.

I love the new items and all, but I hate making them. It's such a pain and a lot of collecting and smelting... and I'm not that good at it.
