- The beta for the Civilization Network, the Facebook adaptation of Sid Meier's empire building strategy game, will not launch in the spring as expected. As of now they're only going to begin widespread beta testing in June.

- The much ballyhooed Super Bowl ad for EA's Dante's Inferno has been rejected by broadcaster CBS. Their objection? The tagline "Go to Hell" in the ad. EA has recut the commercial, replacing the offending line with the apparently less objectionable "Hell Awaits."

- More Dante! The DLC for the Dante's Inferno will include some sort of co-op play and content creation.

- Valve will be performing maintenance on Steam this Thursday starting at 9E/6P, lasting for about 3 hours. Any game which uses Steam for matchmaking - Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2, I'm looking at you - will be unplayable for that period.

- The head of Sony Computer Entertainment's Portuguese division says that Gran Turismo 5 is coming this fall.

It always amazes me what does and doesn't make it past their censors, when it comes to Super Bowl ads.

Personally, I thought the Dante's Inferno add was pretty bad.

EA's marketing department did a poor job of aping the Assassin's Creed/Gears of War trailers.

So much for TF2 Thursday. I'd think they'd do maintenance like this in the wee hours of the morning, so as not to inconvenience everyone.

Should still be able to put TF2 Thursday together.... just make sure everyone has the server in their favorites, and they'll still be able to find the server and login. Weapon unlocks probably won't be available though.

I'm more annoyed that the AvP demo is strongly rumored to be hitting Thursday. Blast you Valve, and blast your inconveniently timed maintenance.

I wouldn't say TF2 uses 'matchmaking' like L4D, but if the Steam servers are down then TF2 will be, too

Funny story. Remember the South Park movie from 10 years ago? It was going to be called "South Park Goes to Hell" but the ratings board wouldn't allow it. So it ends up as "South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut", which is obviously much worse.

Apparently there was loads of back and forthing with the ratings board on that movie. I read that every time it was rejected, they changed the offending part to something that was worse, but within the guidelines they were given, and it passed.

They prefer to inconvenience you. I mean, think of your workplace.... getting all these people in at like 3pm would be a big pain in the ass. And it'll screw up the next day... and all that.

I love the South Park movie.

Dante's Inferno still seems like a complete joke to me. It will probably sell millions, but I just can't take it seriously at all.
