Because for me, videogames have been transformed in to a social activity, even when I play single player games, which is what I am doing 80% of the time I am on Xbox Live. Good solitary activities for me are reading or watching films--both things that, when the particular piece of media is good, it is demanding of your full attention and worthy of it.

I find there are very few games that can suffer the burden of my full attention because, frankly, most videogames are still pretty dumb (even many of the "good" ones) and require lots of very repetitive activity. But even the dumbest things can be a lot of fun when they turn into a social activity. Being able to message my friends, start a party chat, or just using them to kill time while waiting send or receive an invite into another game makes playing these games a lot more tolerable. Xbox live has become the virtual space I hang out on while waiting for friends to show up. And, as I said in another thread, that is all the more valuable to me since I live 600 miles away from the rest of my family and most of my friends.

Granted there are some games that truly are worthy of your careful attention to detail and that you want to play without any distractions. But I find they are very few and very far between. In a good year, I think I might play one game a year that falls into that category.

Why pay to watch a remake of Spaceballs?
What many of the the 'Man No More Heroes would be awesome on the PS3/360!' crowd does not understand is that on top of being a niche game, NMH is also a button masher. The motion controls added the only real depth to the gameplay. Now maybe somewhere between the Wii and PS3/360 dev cycle they will improve on that, but otherwise it was a very shallow game.

If it's a button masher it should be successful on the 360 and PS3 then.

It is a very basic combo system with the only added depth being motion controls. It is a very fun button masher, but the combo system does not have the branches of Devil May Cry or God of War.

You could do the same thing with a controller by having you tap the A button for 10 seconds and achieve a similar novelty that is interesting the first time, and ridiculous the 100th.

And I didn't have an issue with the visuals. I thought they looked pretty good on my 50" HDTV. It didn't compare with Uncharted 2, but it still had a very cool, stylized look.
Indeed. I'll trade fake jerking-off for having a proper fucking camera control any day of the week. I gave up on the third or fourth boss fight after around 30 tries because I couldn't control the fight adequately.

Of course, I wonder how the finishing moves would work in this context. Point the sticks in different directions? Swing the Sixaxis?
