My only issue with some of this extra content that is locked away as Day 1 DLC for those who buy it new is that people without a net connection are buggered. Thankfully it's basically superfluous stuff that doesn't break the game by not being there and I don't really have a problem with this as the 'used-game' tax, but once it crosses the threshold from extra trinket to integral game component, things could get really messy, if only for those without a net connection.

Do people who buy used cars and chairs bitch about no warranty? It's a luxury for the first. You can add on afterward if you like. The DLC is in essence the same thing. A perk for being first, or you can buy used and get it added on second hand.

Comparing a warranty to DLC isn't the same thing, as you know. A more apt comparison would be removing the air conditioning from a car when you sold it used. Do you really need A/C? Not really...the car will still run without it. But it's still shitty.

Neither is fucking up the AC comparable. That would be the scratches or missing manual. That's the hazards of buying used. No, the warranty is pretty much the best comparable item. It's transferable like a warranty if it wasn't used up before selling it used.

I disagree with that notion because it's patently ridiculous and I think developers should figure out ways to keep costs down instead of blaming legitimate, legal consumers (and going so far as comparing them to pirates)...ways that don't involve cutting out content.

Is it really cutting out content? Or just not offering extra content to people that didn't buy it from them. It's like exclusives. Gamestop has them and somewhere like Fry's doesn't. You can get it cheaper at Fry's but you miss out on trinkets. Although I guess you had to Gamestop for the used games, and then other stores have trinkets and...
