In the field of videogame soccer, Konami held the lead for a long, long time, despite EA Sports owning every single license known to man. Konami was content to concentrate on the gameplay rather than flashy presentation. This changed markedly in 2008 with the release of FIFA Soccer 09. EA Sports finally made the breakthrough and scored an absolute scorcher.
With anticipation for FIFA Soccer 10 reaching fever pitch (I wonder how many soccer-related puns I can fit in here...?), and sales numbers so far justifying the added investment in the franchise, the only question without an answer so far is what CoG thought of the title.
