Perhaps something like this: 1x [Smoker / Charger] 1x [Boomer / Spitter] 2x [Hunter / Jockey]

My friends and I were cocky AS going into it, one of them and I have played a tonne of L4D and the other two had never played but were decent enough general FPS gamers. We all planned to stick together and get our backs against a wall the moment we heard a hoard coming. We got DESTROYED, and it was a tonne of fun. We made it to right near the end of the demo, but we were hanging on a thread the whole way. I'm sure it's partly that the map was new and unfamiliar, but I think the game just seems plain harder in general. I didn't really pay attention to the damage the regular zombies were doing but it may well have only been on normal difficulty, and we were still having real trouble. The new specials did a perfect job of splitting us up just as they're sposed to, and we were out in the open and surrounded by hoards on all sides far more often because of it. There was one brilliant moment where we heard a hoard coming, so we all tried to dash into a shack. Just as the last person was about to enter it, he got taken out by a charger and sent FAR away down an alley, out of our reach. I tried to head back out to rescue the charged teammate, but a boomer was right outside the door and surprised me so I stupidly just fired and he exploded all over me. I couldn't even get out the door then as the hoard came filing in, and left me and another teammate pinned in one corner of the room, and our 4th got pinned by a hunter out of line of sight behind a large reception desk only a few metres away. That encounter didn't even include the jockey or spitter, the latter of which made us run out of our hidey holes plenty of times too. It seemed like there was ALWAYS a special lurking somewhere at all times, even more than L4D has these days (I think they increased the special frequency a while back?). I can't wait to play this game just for Co op as it'll finally be a challenge again, which is when the game is at its best. My favourite games of L4D were always the ones where you only just scraped by. I probably won't even touch VS for weeks. /gushing |
