Medal of Honor Going Modern?
It may be regarded as just another WWII FPS franchise now, but the Medal of Honor series was an early innovator of first person shooters on consoles. Unfortunately, that was a long time ago, and while none of the eleven (11!) installments of the game have been bad, they haven't been all that good in a long time either. But come hell or high water, the series has stuck to it's World War II roots, even while other franchises which began in WWII, most notably Call of Duty and Battlefield, have moved into modern times. At least that was the case until now.
Earlier this summer EA confirmed that a new Medal of Honor game was in development. Now thanks to a LinkedIn profile of a former EALA (developer of almost all of the MoH games, formerly Dreamworks Interactive) we get the first hint that the next iteration may be jumping forward in time. Quote:

Mmm... it could work for the series, but they'd need to do something to distinguish it from the BF and MW series of games, or nothing will change for the series.

switching it to Modern at this point just seem like EA is trying to catch the series up to what has 'been done already'. I'm all for a modern MoH and can't wait to see what direction they take. It will have to be something spectacular to comepete with CoD.
I really enjoyed the series so far and really liked Airborne. I'm tempted to dust if off, at least until MW2 comes out.

They should go the opposite direction. Go for an even older conflict.
Darkest of Days had some awesome Civil War battles, right? Guys? Right? |

It could work as long as the concept is in the right direction and manages to generate attention away from Modern Warfare and Battlefield.
As long as it does something different I'm all for it. I'll definitely have to re-boot Airborne too, that game was fun.

Ironically the Infinity Ward founders used to work on the franchise.

I don't want to point out the obvious here, but it seems that the Medal of Honor series has had its time and really should be retired (well provided this next attempt at a game doesn't do so hot).
