PAX Panel with the Most Free Pizza? Borderlands

At 6:30PM PST today on the sixth floor of PAX, convention goers were treated to a playthrough of Borderlands by the developers. Head on over to the CoG Flickr to see stills from the slide show and the 4-player co-op that followed.

Only three Gearbox employees were on hand to play so they recruited a fourth Borderlander from the audience, enlisting the gentleman who had stood in line the longest.

Not only did Randy Pitchford spring for more than $1,000 of Dominos Pizza to feed the attendees "Because it's dinner time."; the Gearbox team also rolled out the newest build of the game that just passed the Microsoft certification process. What you're seeing pictures of here is likely exactly what will be the retail box you buy.

Once again the impressions of our forum goers in attendance were decidedly favorable. The game seems to be a healthy mix of role-playing conventions and fast paced squad shooter fun.

Video will follow when I get a chance to clean up the audio.

Shiiat, now all I need to do is figure out if I am doing console or PC for it, as Gearbox just got big kudos from that.

What, do they not have Papa John's in Seattle? Cool gesture, but it's completely ruined by the Domino's connection.

God I wish i could have been at that panel. Not just for the free pizza, but for the fact that they, on a projector in big text, said exactly what I always think, games are supposed to be fun and companies have every right to change whatever they feel they need to to make it fun without Internet scrutiny.
