I didn't give up on it...just taking a very long break . Besides, I played enough of it to know I really liked it and would love to see more games from him.

Even the DSi is being marketed as more than a game device, with its MP3 playback and dual-camera abilities.
I consider those game consoles first, everything else second, as was the thought process when creating them. Apple's stuff, like the iPod/iPhone, were other devices first and then said it can play games, too.

I think there's a subtle difference in making a game system that has multimedia capabilities and a multimedia device that has game capabilities, in other words. PR speak aside, the iPod Touch is an MP3 player and the X360/PS3 are game machines, no matter how well they do other things. When they lose sight of that it hurts them as a product, which I think hurt the PSP quite a bit, for a while at least.

Gotcha. I thought for a sec I was going to have to get very upset and confused.

Ugh, no. As someone with a tablet, you really don't want a netbook/laptop where you use your finger on the damn screen. It works on my iPhone because it's a small device that goes in my pocket (and through the day gets cleaned rubbing inside said pocket).

Eh. Wouldn't be bad to have it, but I'd prefer Freespace 2 HD.

Then you're in luck. The engine and art assets have been steadily updated since the source code was released.

Grab the newest release over at Hard Light Productions.
