Patch applied just fine, game seems much more optimized now, runs smoothly on uber high settings. There are in-game achievements present now, but they're not tied to Steam.

Is this just like Sacred Gold? I got bored with that one after a couple hours.

Can you get the collectors edition "ultra' textures from the Steam version? If not are they available in a torrent?

I saw a comparison of the textures and it was a pretty noticeable difference. I am trying to wait for the 360 version but something like that might push me over the fence on getting the PC version. I likes the pretties.

I do have the demo and it looks alright with the high settings it has.

Well shit. Ascaron finished the console version of Scared 2 and dropped this rather nice patch and now filed for bankruptcy.

Well, fuck.

That was shitty.

I'm still tempted to pick this up too...

I'd say go ahead and pick it up if you can find it on sale someday. It's pretty stable now. The bugs aren't too outrageous. (The latest patch did make it so quests are heavily weighted towards giving set items if the reward was supposed to be a random magic item. Nothing like having a couple of full sets of armor and weapons at level 15!) Just keep in mind that the financial difficulties Ascaron is facing likely means that further patching will be few and far between.

I don't know if this is a game I'd ever recommend to anyone at full price, however. It seems more like a $30-$40 game.
