That's not a valid response to criticizing the single-player experience that I wanted to go through when I started playing this. The only thing playing co-op will fix is the dumb AI. The rest of it will remain bad.

As people have been saying, I think there's two different versions of the game. There's one in which Sheva does something besides die and flail, where the level design wasn't done on a Sunday afternoon and where actual enjoyment can be found. Then there's the version we have.

I think I said earlier I kinda like the bosses, and I do. Yes half of them are fucking gimmicks, but gimmicks require thinking. Any thinking is an improvement with this game.

Why shouldn't it? When did the memo go out that a game shouldn't be co-op first and single player second? Does Capcom owe you?

I do not mind QTEs, I often enjoy them, and I think they're appropriate as used in this particular game. You can argue that you do not like QTEs, but it's pretty obvious that you can't call others crazy for liking it when there's something in the middle that's basically a matter of preference.

edit: I have heard none of the hate coming from those playing the game co-op. Playing it co-op with my wife is one of the most enjoyable things I've done this year. She's so adorable trying to keep up with me and getting all scared if we get separated.

I'll be fair, the bosses looked cool and for the most part got me panicking, which is what any good boss encounter should do.

I don't mind gimmicks with bosses, but I dunno, a few of them were WAY too overt. "HEY MAYBE YOU SHOULD USE THAT FLAME THROWER OVER THERE, CHRIS." Normally when I was already going over there to check it out.

Don't shove words down my throat. I didn't say Capcom owed me shit, especially since I only rented it. But if a game has single-player, and I want to play that single-player, any criticisms based on the AI portions of said experience cannot be simply invalidated by saying "oh, play co-op."

I'm happy people enjoy playing it co-op. That means Capcom spent more time making it a fun multiplayer experience than they did a single, where my points still stand.

This is exactly right. When they were making this game, they concentrated entirely on co-op. Nothing else. Hence the stupid checkpoint system (which wouldn't have existed without co-op). It is fun playing with other people, but it takes away from what past RE games were. This is a step in the wrong direction.

I ignored it when you said it earlier because the argument didn't make any more sense then, either. Nobody is required to put a big co-op warning sticker on the game. It's clearly designed, from top to bottom, to be played co-op. The single player is there so that you can play the game in the sub-optimal manner if you don't want to make friends because you're lonely and sad and nobody likes you and you're going to die alone. Also your pets hate you. Yes, even the fish.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles had a single player mode, too. It sucked, and far more than this does, without others. Nobody is obligated to make the games you want to play the way you want to play them.

I like to game alone, I prefer being alone in general as people generally infuriate me.

Resident Evil 0-4 100% playable as single player games, in fact that's how they were designed. They were horror games too but lets not get into that again.

Resident Evil 5, unfuckingplayable as a single player game when you can't even beat the last boss on the easiest difficulty because your fuckwit AI partner won't do their fucking job.

MMOs have "Online Only" on the box, which is exactly what this should have.

Did I play a completely different game? I beat the last boss in my first try.

I guess I downloaded a secret patch something that made the game playable in SP. You guys obviously need to get a hold of this patch. I had no problems with the AI.
