As for Zepplin.. I [i]want[/t] to like them. I can appreciate their work, but when I try to listen to them, my interest just wanes

The entire 30 minutes? Impressive.

Anyone that says all of Floyd's songs sound the same is an idiot. Yeah, I said it....an idiot!

Have a Cigar and Money? Run Like Hell?
Sheep or Great Gig in the Sky? Give me a break!

Money is in 7/8 time. What other band plays in 7/8 time?! Not to mention the fact that their stage show is nothing short of awe inspiring. David Gilmour is a guitar god that bleeds music. Rick Wright (God rest his soul) was a musical genius.

That would make so much sense if you weren't comparing them to the Who...

I'd actually enjoy a sitar cover of that song.

There are a lot prog-rock/metal bands that do use odd timings. All of them following Pink Floyd.

Looking into it. Rush's "Losing It" is in 11/8 and 5/8. I'm not sure I could count that.

Dream Theater has a couple of songs in odd time signatures. And Primus' Eleven is also in 11/8 time. But Primus is known for their odd rhythms.

Les Claypool is also a massive nerd for Pink Floyd, and covered a whole Floyd album live once for a side project.

Primus also did a cover of a Rush song. Relevant.

I have mixed feelings about Rush.

On one hand, musically they're pretty brilliant.

On the other hand, lyrically, they spent most of their career wallowing in transparent Randian propaganda bullshit, and I could definitely do without that shit.
