Glad to hear you're all at least physically secure! I read what happened in the Sandy thread. Scary stuff. When the snow melted after one particularly harsh winter when I was a kid, our basement took on water. My Super Nintendo was safe, though.

@Karak: And for some reason I thought you were the guy talking up all sorts of mods for NV sometime in the past couple months.

For the original yes. For NV I was explaining some mods that made it not so sucky.
But it still turned out to be sucky.
In my opinion as I know many others adore it.

What makes you think your mother acknowledges she has a son?

Well looking and moving beyond the flood...talking to Karak today reminded me the Sleeping Dogs DLC should be out. I checked and there it was. If you were a fan of SD then pick this up. It's been fun so far. They use the culture/mythology very well I think for the plot. It's only 560 points/PSN$, so pretty cheap. This will keep me busy while I wait for the delayed AssCreed3/Vita combo from Amazon.

Also, my office opened today to only close at 1pm. Philly was a huge mess, bridges were still closed this a.m. and I thought most mass transit was still offline. I am not sure who the top brass thought were coming in for services with no mass transit. The good, I only lose a half a sick day now.

Or not. Anyway, that wasn't that good of a way to wake up. Continuing to work. Hopefully Dragon's Dogma and/or X-Com tonight. Also, my favorite NBA team is opening the season tonight, "Whoever is playing the Lakers."
That used to be my favorite NBA team, too. Until the Mavericks knocked the Lakers out of the finals two years ago. Now they're my favorite.

Damnit, why couldn't I Am Alive have been the awesome open world survival game I *wanted*?

What did you want in contrast to what you played? I never did bother with this one. It seemed to "real" or attempting at something game-like close if this were a real life situation.

It was basically a plot-based game, with limited freedom. I mean, if you looked around you could gather some stuff off the beaten path, but I wanted something less...plotty.

Oh, and if anyone is still into Conclave, "Slan" was automagically dropped from my party due to inactivity. If anyone wants to join up:

Card deck finally launched on KickStarter...now I can sleep for about a month.
If you liked the art from our RPG that didn't fund this is one way to get some of it at good prices.

I have to think hard about it to remember breakfast.

Just pledged "Holding Aces" for a deck of outrageous cards.

Mostly splitting my time between Borderlands 2 and XCOM. A little bit of A Game of Dwarves and Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack every now and then.

My wife and I went to Steamcon on Saturday and saw some great costumes and garb. My wife wore a delightful bowler, hand-painted Edgar Alan Poe boots and a fabulous red satin corset! I don't know when I have seen so many pushed-up heaving bosoms.

I think I might be getting to the end of motorcycle riding season. Between the rain, wet leaves and the darkness my commute is getting a bit tense. But damn! The commute in a car is brain-numbing!

Work has been pretty frantic. The other West Coast IT support guy is on vacation in the Caribbean. I hope he and his wife missed the worst of Sandy. I'm supporting all nine West Coast offices and all of us are trying to get the East Coast offices up and running.

I just picked up the new Syndicate game from Amazon for like $3.85. Even if it's just a standard shooter I think it is worth it.

Yesterday would have been my father's 80th birthday. The family all had a wee dram o' whisky to toast him in remembrance. Damn, I miss him.

What luck! I didn't even know the Mavs were playing the Lakers tonight. And they stomped them.

My new Social Security card arrived today. I'm torn, as I'm happy that I can go to my interview with the temp and not be broke and starving, but sad that this is the end of my current lifestyle. Yes, money, but no, going to bed early and less drinking. Boo.

Funny, I never thought about you NOT riding your motorcycle to work or any other time. I'm trying to picture you in a car and it does not commute.

I'd say welcome to the working life but although it seems you have to put your bad habits aside, workers find creative ways to keep up with the drinking and carousing all the while stiaying employed. Or that is how I remember spending most of my time in my '20s menial office jobs

Renn fairs. I think it's a law that half the attendees must be overweight woman wearing a low-cut corsets.

Our Kickstarter looks to be over-funded within a day or so. Good times but that means less games.
To stop myself from going MORE insane I have this weekend planned to play some serious games including Skyrim. I hate when people mention that game. It is like a siren call to an old sailor.

I totally have NOT put my bad habits aside, as I close down the bars and wake up at Noon. Pretty sure many jobs don't start at 1PM or later :P

Go play Disaster Report. It's not open world, but it sounds like it's much better than I Am Alive...

I thought this was some kind of Valve fanfest with lots of Gabe Newell cosplay. The number of pushed-up heaving bosoms would probably still be the same though, but not for the right reasons.

And yes, you can all thank me for later for that mental image...

Oh man, they did the opening theme for Skyrim at VGL on the weekend and it was all I could do not to go and fire the game up when I got home.

So in case anyone missed me yesterday, I spent the morning waiting for the internet technician to arrive and wire my new modem up. It wouldn't have been so bad except that he kept tsk-tsking the handyman's special wiring job that the people before us had done to splice in some of the phone jacks in the house. I did take a perverse pleasure in showing him this weird 4-pronged phone jack that we had installed in our basement. He'd never seen anything like it before.

Then, after a brief sojourn to work and to EB to pick up WWE13 and my new PS3 AC3 bundle system, I got home to find out that the internet was down. TWO HOURS it took me to get it working again with tech support. Thankfully everything seems stable now and I spent a chunk of last night downloading system updates, games and such on my shiny new PS3. I like the new drive, though the door seems kind of flimsy. At least I don't have to worry about discs getting stuck inside this time around.

I also played a couple of hours of AC3 before passing out on the couch, which is a nice return to form

I tell ya though... it is so nice to play games with a Dualshock. My hands are just naturally curved into the right shape for that controller and nothing else sits in my hands quite the same.

Tonight, I shall take the kids trick or treating, then chase them off to bed and get to work playing around in the New World with my stabby friends. I was thinking that I could pretend that I'm dressed as a modern day assassin by putting the hood up on my hoodie (which has a weird digital camo design) and sticking two butter knives in my wrists.
