Alright, got a stew finishing in an hour (thank you, slow cooker!), have the wedding reception two hours after. Going to be a good day.

Until then, watching some TV and playing Minish Cap. I found all of my old GBA games and snagged a huge stack. Some I forgot I even had.

Playwriting isn't so bad to do manually, because the format is a lot more flexible and simple, though I have used Celtx for it in the past and it was nice to have, especially for things like autocompletion of character names and such.

For Screenwriting it's basically a must. I've yet to find a workable template for doing scripts in a traditional word processor, so it takes a lot of the work out of dealing with the studio format.

I may not be able to go toe-to-toe with serious experts on horror, but I enjoy to watch a lot of horror, and I like to think about it too.

I do miss hanging out with my English professor friend. We would segue from serious conversations about Shakespeare to slasher movie tropes (it's fun to talk to a serious feminist about the ins and outs of the final girl) to Quentin Tarantino.

My wife and I are continuing our spontaneous horror movie marathon. We've watched a Vincent Price movie, Theater of Blood, which seems like a Shakespearean version of Phibes (though Phibes is vastly superior). We're now watching The Vampire Lover, the first part of the Hammer Karnstein trilogy, which is based on the original lesbian vampire book Carmilla, which inspired many of the elements of Bram Stoker's Dracula novel.

That's pretty impressive, especially for a high school level. Nice job!

Yay, I'm glad you are enjoying it. I got pretty far in the game and really enjoyed another. It's yet another game I'd like to make time for at some point.

Last night's Halloween/birthday party was a lot of fun. I saw some great costumes (Quail Man, smurfette, and others) and met some cool people. It was a good time, and the BF's Luigi costume was great.

Today I'm mostly doing homework. Probably no gaming for me this weekend, outside of the little bit I did with the BF this morning. :/

What a surprise! I played zero games this weekend. Instead, I took two huge naps, watched Boogie Nights of all things on HBO, and watched a ton of sports. I had a hankering to start up a new game besides playing Skyrim, but with my Vita arriving on Tuesday, it seemed kind of foolish to dive into anything else.

I did some reading as well, finishing off the final 4 short stories in Skeleton Crew.

I used to be a huge SK fan. I liked the stories in that book. I haven't kept up with his latest stuff but maybe i'll look to borrow something from the library.

I just found out that I got a 90 on last week's Chemistry exam. Considering how unsure I was after taking it, I am very relieved.

Hopefully I'll get a decent grade on my Soil Science exam that I took on Friday. *fingers crossed*

Some of his best short stories in my opinion were collected in this book; The Raft, The Jaunt, Word Processor of the Gods, Beachworld, Survivor Type....

I just realized that The Secret of Mana is on the Wii virtual console. Now, my Wii has been boxed up for the past 3 years since I moved into my house, but I can definitely see myself setting it back up for that game; a game I never played but really always wanted to.

I never visited the Wii store. Are there any special accessories I need or can I just plug in am ethernet cable? I realize I would have to buy Wii points.

Very excited about the possibility! I played Final Fantasy Adventure a million times as a kid and this is supposed to be like that only even better.

Actually, by default (unless recent models have changed), the Wii only has wifi. You can plug in an ethernet cable only if you have a usb-ethernet adapter.

You'll want to go into your settings and make sure you're properly connected to the internet and let it do all its updates, but it's relatively painless.

I watched Hellraiser with ADD tonight. An interesting movie to say the least. I look forward to see how they run this series into the ground with the sequels.

The first two movies go together nicely. The second is in fact a direct sequel to the first. I haven't seen the third in ages, but remember some definite camp. I understand it is relatively well regarded in the series.

The fourth is an Alan Smithee movie, which should tell you something about issues it has (that is a placeholder name directors sometimes put on a movie instead of their own in protest against studio meddling). Unfortunately, I have a soft spot for it because it adds to the mythology in some interesting ways and wraps up the series nicely.

I haven't seen anything beyond those, but have heard they're all bad to terrible.

In short, if you're going to pick and choose Hellraiser movies, stick with the first two.

We watched Transformers Bark at the Moon (whatever) tonight with Rifftrax. Even with the commentary, it was pretty brutal. The nicest thing I can say about the whole trilogy is that it's incoherent and soulless. The Twilight movies were better than that shit. Twilight.

I watched "The Last Exorcism" it is free with Amazon prime. It was just ok, it has a decent premise but the ending was bad.

I think if you are going to do an Exorcism movie it should at least be as good as "The Exorcist" sadly no one has come close that I have seen.

Next up is "Let the Right One In".

We thought it was underwhelming too.

"As least as good as The Exorcist", though? That's like saying that if someone's doing a movie about an eccentric magnate, it needs to be at least as good as Citizen Kane.

I figure it'll hit everyone differently. I enjoyed it.

And I thought pretty much the same thing as you with the comparison to The Exorcist. Even if I'm not personally crazy about the movie, it is considered the best in the subgenre.

Just double checking, who doesn't know about Camilla or Alan Smythee?

Also Gnome does this mean we should call you Princess Daisy now?
