speaking of Prometheus and facepalming...

I just watched GALAXY OF TERROR

It's like...Planet of the Dinosaurs and Aliens had a very odd yet awesome babby. The decisions the crew members make...reminded me of being a kid and playing space marine or whatever with toy guns, so moronic and immature.

...and what the fuck was with the crystal shuriken guy?

either way, probably one of the greatest movies ever.

edit: I gotta see Forbidden World now...

I gotta say, I hope they leave "the Management" thing out from this point. It's lame that it seems to be a plot that's disappearing just like that, but at the same time, it was obvious they didn't really have an actual plan behind them, so maybe it's for the best.
You know, I was just thinking about the show and they (Management) are almost totally forgettable. Although it doesn't get better. I mean there are puppet masters behind the puppet masters behind the puppet masters. The is still good to me. I reckon they should wrap this shit up soon though. Sad to say but it's almost impossible to imagine anything worse for Michael to face.

Yup. I'm on S4 now. Just watched the premiere last night.

Still keeping me watching, but I do find Michael's motivations, or at least his expression of his motivations, frustrating at times.

I get it's part of his character as a spy, but it seems like his argument with Fee in that episode could've been solved by just flat out saying "Either I work with Management, or I go to a secret prison in Zimbabwe and I'm never seen again."

They keep arguing over stuff that's not really a choice, and it's irritating.

Just watched a pair of horror movies on Netflix Instant. First up: Paranormal Activity 3. I enjoyed the first two movies, and found this to be the fastest of the bunch. I liked it quite a bit, and found the jump scares to be effective and the subtle stuff set the mood well.

Next up: The Innkeepers, by Ti West, one of my favorite new horror directors. I don't want to talk a lot about it, but if you can deal with a slow burn of a movie with a heavy emphasis on suspense, I think you'll like it. It isn't as dark as his other work (like House of the Devil), but I found myself sufficiently creeped out. I will say that the characters sometimes act like idiots, but not always. Also, the synopsis on Netflix will give you virtually no idea of what you're going to be watching, period.

Killer Joe

Not a fan of the final five seconds, but this was really dark - but funny - and really enjoyable. Terrific performances all around, especially from Mathew McConaughey, Thomas Haden Church and Juno Temple.

The movie should have been 10 seconds shorter or 10 minutes longer, and it could have been great. A few great lines in this one as well.

Definitely recommended.

Yeah. There were some really intelligent shots, not so much in the action, as in the beats between the action. Hard to explain, but he got a lot of mileage from his talent.

And if anyone thought Vince Gallo's fellatio scene in Brown Bunny was going to be the most awkward one every filmed, you've got something very special to look forward to.

Put the kids to bed, and try to have an open mind before putting this on. Pretty sure Xerxes is going to run a campaign singlehandedly to make that scene go viral.

Cabin in the Woods... I think the hype kinda ruined this one for me. It was decent, clever and funny, but nowhere near the revelation of horror movies I was expecting.

I think I dismissed this movie quite casually the first time. Maybe because I hadn't read Hammet at the time. This is basically Rian Johnson's Shutter Island; a movie you will like if you are a fan of the thing it's ripping-off. The dialogue is fast and uses a lot of faux hard-boiled slang, so much so that I had to use subs. It even has the same ending as Maltese Falcon, minus Bogart's Shakesperean improv. Johnson knows how to make a movie look good on the cheap. Some shots are just fantastic.

Yeah, in the commentary they talk about how some of those shots were designed and it's brilliant in its simplicity.

I want to be Joseph GL so hard.

Maybe. I mean it's almost like that Phantom show SyFy tried. I think I liked that pilot better too. Also his attempts to be a young socialite party boy doesn't seem right. It's like a horrible Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark impression shot for youtube by collage kids who are horsing around.

I guess the action is kind of spiffy.

Matt O'Leary, the guy who played Brain in Brick, is the leading man on the film I'm working on. He has some badass stories about Joseph and himself. If only they were still besties!

Silly and hilarious action insanity. I enjoyed it and got a good few laughs out of it.
