LOL.

Good one, Xerxes.

I have been using LibreOffice for a year now, with hardcore spreadsheet management, synced through dropbox to my collaborator, using Office 10. Works every time.

Try it for 16+ hours a day sometime.

Just wait until the crashing starts. Or a file fails to save changes. Or it stops registering input. Or forgets to remove the lock file. Then crashes again. Then the autobackup corrupts.

Its a piece of shit. The ui is stuck in the 90s and the stability and compatibility get worse with every update.

Its a backwards, ancient piece of kludgy shit, just like Java, and it can suck my sick before I'll use it again.

Has no apps. USB works exactly like on desktop; can attach printers or storage devices. Does not support AVI and MKV, even though Tegra 3 has built-in support.
Looks like my fears were true. Rt is doa, nothing to see here folks.

Windows RT was an idiot concept from day 1.

Um yeah guys, we are coming out with a stripped down gimped version of our operating system for mobile devices. Or you can, um, wait a month or two and get the full version with 1000x more app support. What do you think? Oh yeah, and while you are waiting, dont bother buying any of our Windows Phone 7 devices, we are axing that whole line. K, tx, bye.

Seriously, heads should roll at Microsoft. That company would be so much more interesting if J Allard had won and stuck around and Steven Sinofsky got the boot. He got far too much credit for "saving" Microsoft from Vista... The difference between Windows 7 and Vista is about ----><---- that much... basically, a bit of time and less marketing hype.

I'm totally stoked for a Surface Pro with Wacom support. I'll be able to run all my graphic design, web development, database, and media apps I currently use, while being able to paint on the screen... All in a freaking sweet form factor.

I'm probably jumping the gun but J should have replaced Ballmer. He has no vision and it shows how out of touch he his. They should have carried Courier to terms.

I'm just hoping the trend stcks and Windows 9 is back in business. Me, vista, 98 were huge duds too.

This talk of Wacom has me intrigued. I was under the impression it was going to be your standard capacitive touch screen. Is there going to be an actual stylus?? One that doesn't have a giant rubber gumball for a tip??

It'd be more like this: http://www.samsung.com/us/2012-galaxy-note-wifi/
I use one of those gumball-tipped things to write with my ipad, it's not terrible, but this would be a lot better.
Also, being able to use it with one-note I've been given the impression would be awesome.

I did run it for that long on Ubuntu, but never on windows. My work flow has changed over the past few months, so maybe the new update has borked it.

How was 98 a huge dud? I had a 98 machine and don't recall any issues.

The original release was terrible. They didn't fix the issues until 98 SE.

Ah, I don't think I had it until SE.

That was a long time ago, so my memory is somewhat fuzzy. I just remember enjoying awesome games like Grim Fandango, Dungeon Keeper, and Half-Life. That may have allowed me to overlook any flaws in the OS.

Naw you probably had the first edition. I won't say 95 was that awesome, but it was new and by the end everyone had gotten use to it. NT was better if you had it. Same for Windows 2000.

Makes me wonder. Is Windows Server 2012 the shit in comparison to the shit that is Windows 8?

First statement about NT was dead wrong. Working with drivers was a goddamn nightmare and the HAL was shit. Windows 2000 was a vast improvement as it brought the device manager from the 9x line to the NT line, but at release, nobody supported it other than business apps. Suddenly gaming and entertainment appeared on it around SP2 and then the 9x line was killed.

2012 is better if you're virtualizing using Hyper-V. It's not terrible, the server manager takes a lot of getting used to, and whatever reason they decided to use the tile interface for the start menu on a server... yeesh.
