Which, honestly, I would have been okay with, but they go into communications blackout mode any time there are problems. A simple "there was an issue getting the correct keys from the publisher, we're working to resolve the problem as soon as possible" would have been sufficient to keep me happy. Instead, they went into total radio silence about it.

All the issues are why I generally avoid putting them in the Deal-O-Tron 5000.

The issues are extremely minor compared to the savings. I don't really mind getting some games less than a day late when I've paid almost half retail price for it. And they don't always fuck up.

I've only had issues, the same one Slacker had, with pre-orders. I think they had another game and you could see folks on CAG already talking about pre-loading once purchased. So that was a good day for them. But buying from them released games, code issues on the spot.

Amazon didn't give me a code to preload either once. I got the code almost at midnight so no hard feelings. Still a bit weird about that. Like, what's so hard about giving the codes out early if you have them and they only going to steam anyways?

I had an issue with Quantum Conundrum, where it took a day to get a key, as well as with the Sleeping Dogs preorder. My biggest issue is that there is no transparency, or attempt to do anything when they fuck up. You just end up with an email saying, "Here's your key!" but it's late. Maybe it's just my experience in support, but I expect someone to tell me what the problem was, and what has been done to prevent it from happening in the future.

Sorely tempted by Darksiders 2. The first was good but strangely dull, how does that one fare?

I'm not terribly far into it, but I like what it is so far. More in the way of environment traversal (think Prince of Persia), in addition to the combat and puzzling of the first game. Also there's a loot system now.

Loot system is pointless, the hell were they thinking. PoP platforming though.... so, that DLC worth it?

In fairness, they do eventually get things resolved when there are problems, and the deals can't be beat from a legit seller. They just suck at communication.

Getting stuff at Steam sale prices (that could be 6 months down the track), at launch, with only occasional minor(ish) fuckups is well worth it. Doubly so for people like me who get dicked over by some publishers on Steam. If I wanted Dishonered it's $80 on Steam, with that voucher $48 or so on GMG.

You darned Australian!!! I think Slacker tried to take off the day it came out so it turned out badly for him. Lesson, make sure you can get your preload on.

Well that's always a stupid idea with GMG, they never release their keys until at least within a few days of launch. At the prices they sell them, they're probably getting them off the back of a truck. At least one was actually on launch day, never had a chance to preload. Which considering how badly preloading usually turns out for me wasn't really a bad thing.

I did get XCOM pre-loaded. So it's not a wash with them. But again, aside from some flakiness, they are doing a bang up job. I think I griped about it but that radio silence thing is annoying. THQ did the same thing.

Just grabbed Dead Space 2 and Mirror's Edge through Gamefly and went to activate them on Steam and both are giving me an invalid key response. Any idea what the trouble might be? Never had any other issues activating Gamefly through Steam.

How long ago did you get them? Last key I ordered from GMG took like an hour for Steam to validate

Gamefly, not GMG. And it just comes up invalid completely, at least the keys listed on my GF History (though again, others were fine)

If its not a steam works game or has Steam mentioned on the gamefly game's page it's either a origin game or one you download from gamefly.

Definitely a fun game I had my eye on for a while. For $15 on Steam it is a steal if you love strategy game. It's one of those games that is strangely deep while not appearing deep.

I still haven't gotten past the first mission 100% due to my own errors. Each time I replay, I get a little closer..then inevitably screw up again. I like it. Granted, even on a loss you can continue through the campaign, but I'm OCD like that.
