Is bf joining you or is this a separate nite out?

Received confirmation today that the state of NJ will allow me to be licensed as a social worker. This letter and an additional $120 allows me my license. I've lost count how much money I have thrown at this license process. I'll make sure to pics of the license when it comes in before someone says the obvious

Last night I watched about 9 hours of Halo 4 leaked footage.
Best looking game on the 360 by a mother fucking landslide.
That is some black magic shit they are pulling off. My god. The IQ seems almost impossibly good.

I loved that movie. So many people hated it but I really liked it.
Just hear a new track from Halo 4. Though the streams get shut down pretty quick its still fun to see the changes.
So far-no spoilers list of cool stuff
Weapons and vehicle sounds completely redone(the god damned guns seem to sound amazing and the warthog idles)
The entire world self-shadows. Something missing from almost every console game.

The guy came into some area that was rocky and grassy and it looked amazing. bugs crawling into crags in rocks, and all this crazy shit.

I am chomping at the bit to buy this one.

After seeing this and Forza Horizons I am thinking that MS is using some kind of SMAA function now. Aside from the lighting in Halo the lack of aliasing is such a massive difference it can't be overstated, same with Forza Horizons which doesn't have a jaggy in it. I am glad they are moving to SMAA and away from other AA fuctions. Most of them just make shit blurry.

Congratulations. I'm often very grateful that my field does not require certification or that sort of jazz. I just have my degree and my list of experience, and that's it.

Just wrapped up the second DLC (The Writer) and it too was excellent and a great ending to the story.

Then I played through American Nightmare. Avoid it. Uninteresting gameplay and story and just had a completely different vibe than the original. I would've switched it off but I felt obligated to finish it.

posted this in the Halo 4 thread but what the hell

Quote:
Holy fuckity FUCK FUCK!

People are going to be talking about this Halo game for fucking years.
DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!

Guys you are in for a fucking...a game changing game.

I am officially done watching streams. Though I don't get bothered by spoilers I am not easily convinced this is most likely going to be my game of the generation.

3 of the set pieces are...just... It makes Uncharted set pieces look like a single sidewalk section. My mother of god.
I can honestly say. Well fucking done. Well done. To see the improvements is one thing but to be generally knocked out of my seat a couple dozen times by the writing in a Halo game(usually normal drivel) is crazy. But to see how a new company handled the game and...what that freshness means is just insane. Mass Effect 1 will most likely be replaced easily by Halo 4 as my favorite game of the generation. And easily surprises Halo 1 as my favorite, unless when I play it I don't like something that can't be seen by watching streams.

No spoilers but I can say those who like to see something truly epic should check out the videos even if you don't like Halo, once people starting playing.

As a Neogaffer said, if Yu and her team can do this on a 360 what in the hell is going to happen when they have the next gen system to mess around with. Just shaking my head at what I have seen. God damn. God damn. That is just...almost indescribable.

My wife doesn't even like shooters and she said. "Oh my god." maybe 20 times. It was like watching the superbowl. We sat down, had pizza and watched someone play and man.

So crappy day.

Got up, and immediately had our schedule derailed by an appointment running late, so we're an hour behind.

We go to run an errand for my wife, which ends up taking 1/2 longer than it should have because she wouldn't stop chatting with people.

Here's the high point: I did manage to find almost all the pieces for my Halloween costume - I'm going as The Last Saskatchewan Pirate. All I need is a Saskatchewan Roughriders shirt.

Now things go *really* off the rails. We go to the UHaul place to get a van, because my wife needed help getting things from her store to the offsite, and my car wouldn't do it. The first place runs the rental through, and then comes back and tells us THEY LOST THE KEY. So we have to go through the nonsense to cancel the rental so the CC won't be charged, and they direct us to another UHaul.

Which happens to be run by a Mayan Calendar nutbar. THAT was a fun conversation. We then immediately go to the storage facility, and oh look, they're closed, so we have to call the emergency number to be let in.

To add onto the day, one of the other stores had dumped a bunch of wet boxes in there, so the place reeked of mold.

Pull things out of the mess, take it to my wife's store, load it up with a bunch of boxes, take it back (thankfully they gave us an access code for the storage facility) and then drop off the van.

Then I go for dinner after dropping my wife off at hers, and oh look, they 'lost' my pick up order.

And I think I threw my shoulder out again.

Can it be tomorrow yet?

Well, the move is done. We even emptied out the storage unit while we were at it. Unfortunately, this has led to a situation that my kids have dubbed Mount Boxes in my basement. Sigh. I'm not looking forward to going through all of that crap.

And Purps, where I come from, your friends and family are the movers. We're exhausted but it was nice. Everyone really gave it their all today. That's probably why most of us were ready to hit the hay at around 7:30 tonight!

Hopefully I'll unearth all of my cords and get the PC set up tomorrow. The first thing I did this afternoon was to hook up the wifi though, so we have Internet. Yay.

The downside of this move is that it turns out that we can't get cable in this place until at least spring because the old line that runs here is in such bad shape that the tech couldn't guarantee we'd have a reliable signal. To get cable to our place, they'd have to dig from the neighbour's yard and that would take 8-12 weeks and by then we'll probably be into frost/frozen ground territory. He could string the wire through the trees and across Orr neighbour's yard, but that's not really how I want to get to meet the neighbours.

So we can either go satellite (blech) or get an HD antenna... Or we may just forgo TV for a bit. We have Netflix and most of the shows we watch get the episode put online anyway. Might be a way to break some habits and start fresh. My daughter almost fainted when. Told her we don't have TV here

I could probably do just fine with no TV. I've got plenty to distract me as it is

Whenever I want to end a conversation I just look a person deeply in the eyes without saying anything until it becomes pretty uncomfortable. Then I lower my voice into a male Kathleen Turner imitation and state, "May balls are ready."

Use that next time you don't want to talk to mayan calendar nuts.

More Dishonored. Apparently I have killed 1 hostile in each mission, despite trying to do a no-kill playthrough. First one was via an explosion that killed an unconscious guard. Second...I have no idea. Oh, no, I remember. It must have been the assassination I did, the main mission. Makes sense I guess.

So far it's a great game. Reeks of Deus Ex in terms of how many different ways there are to complete a mission.

Also tried out XCOM tonight, a couple tutorial missions. Lost a Canadian sniper which sucks, but I didn't bother restarting so I'll continue ahead. So far I really like the game, and I never played the original games.

Just bought 11 CDs from Amazon. Oops!

Then, I decided to try downloading a separate mp3 from their mp3 store, as they give you a free mp3 download with every CD purchase. What a craptacular setup Amazon has for mp3s. When you download for the first time, you have to install their own downloader. I did so, and it says I have downloaded the track, but it is not on my Mac. There is no way to re-download it from the amazon webpage directly (that I could find by surfing through their FAQ page) and the option to do so through the download .exe won't highlight to let me manually re-download. Initiate un-install!

Went to a "local" firing range today with a few friends, which was pretty fun all around. It was my first outdoor range experience and I had far more fun there than at the much closer and air conditioned indoor range that's closer to us. I'm sure it had something to do with the variety of target ranges, the sighting scopes set up to watch your friends fire and the interesting variety of both legal and illegal guns being fired by other patrons. We probably went through 200$ of ammo, all from a 257 sniper and a Remmington 30/30 lever action rifle. Ah, the perks of having a real, adult job.

As for games, I'm still plugging away on my solo run of Borderlands 2. My Gunzerker is up to 29 and I haven't found a single orange drop. Solo play is a little gimpy, but at least I can enjoy the side missions stories without feeling rushed.

I better get my gaming in tonight. I'll be spending tomorrow back at work hammering out all the grading I've been slacking on this semester. Quarter grades are due in a week and I've been avoiding grading around 300 sculptures sitting in the back of my room. Should be fun.

Yeah, trying to keep track not killing anyone can be a bit much. Did you do Granny's missions yet?

Are you Redboxing these new games I see you playing? I know you are not buying them. Unless you sold your soul again to Gamefly but I didn't think that was happening again.

Spent a few hours prepping for Halloween. Where we live now is populated with kids. Lots of them. ADD and I love Halloween so we wanted to be generous with candy. I spent a few hours putting candy in bags to be ready for the onslaught at the end of the month.
