I've seen it referrenced a lot over the Internet, but I fear looking it up may actually be the thing that makes me going on a "God Bless America" film type killing spree.

Actually, if you read the article, that background was super-imposed on the shot. Another offense from these horrible people!

Yeah, I read the article, that's why I laughed that they used the photo, yet super-imposed a snow backdrop, it just seemed really tacky and stupid.

I wonder where they got the photo from though? Since using things like photobucket etc there are usually disclaimers in there saying they can use your photo's for other things.

It's a family of American Southerners, the adults are overweight, everybody's uncouth, and the youngest of the children - the eponymous Honey Boo Boo - is a beauty pageant contestant.

Anyway from a few clips I'm pretty sure the joke is on the self-righteous viewers in the audience. They seem legitimately happy and loving, unlike some reality stars (like the Gosselins, where you just had to glance at their body language to know what kind of miserable hell their lives together were).

I mean I'd still never watch it because it's reality TV so it's part of a huge bread and circuses framework of stupid, but I think the people watching to laugh at them are more trashy than the family themselves.

Religious extremism at its worst:

Schools shut their doors in protest and Pakistanis across the country held vigils Wednesday to pray for a 14-year-old girl who was shot by a Taliban gunman after daring to advocate education for girls and criticize the militant group.

The outrage over this event inspires hope within me, but I cannot fathom the level of hatred and kind of belief system that would lead to shooting a 14 year old girl.

The political parties involved are bigger fascists than the Taliban. There has been genuine sadness here, and people are pissed, but most of the public outpouring is done by people who were coerced and more or less kidnapped from their workplaces and places of education.

She's being transfered to a military hospital now, since the Taliban have vowed to get her when she comes out anyway.

Her diary was very well done on the BBC coverage. I fear unless she is taken out of the area with her family, she will end up a martyr.
