Tokyo Jungle was on sale through PS+, so I picked it up because some people around here seem to be enjoying it (and I tend to go in for the quirky Japanese stuff). I'm really digging it so far. Action RPG in post apocalyptic Japan with cute animals? Yes, thank you.

The game is on PC as well. GOG and Steam. I can't wait to pick it up, although I'm holding off for now. The amount of awesome indie titles hitting this fall is crazy!

I want this game so badly. Why is it only on PS3?

Same here... Why is my PS3 broken (and why won't Sony let me buy things on my account over the internet?!?)

You're the guy who gets things done. The rest just distract the aliens until you can take them down. Karak has a sniper rifle now though, so that helps. As does Mags.

You are being punished for you PC sins.

It's hard to believe my internet twin is a PC gamer. I need a beer.

Man, the difficulty in Tokyo Jungle ramps up like crazy. I'm just running around among the sheep and the porcupines and then BAM - fucking tigers everywhere.

I so wish I could draw.
I want that. Not the clockpunk wings maybe but definitely keeping the a city state in abject fear of melty justice.

That would be the sublime XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Or in your case, XCOM: Game Unknown

So, I just received my copy of Etrian Odyssey 3.

Dark Spire? Fuck that noise. My group was a clusterfsck anyway. I needed to spend about 30h grinding to earn the experience to make up for the fact that I screwed up my character creation, so I couldn't prestige class anyone.

Any recommendations for main adventuring team? I'm thinking Hoplite/Prince/Buccanneer/Zodiac/Arbalest.

Crap, it's been waaaay too long since I've played, I'd need to check my old save file, though it's likely been adjusted once advanced classes were unlocked. Since you can respec or rehire new characters without too much difficulty, I wouldn't stress out too much about screwing up your initial party. As long as you've got decent variety with a tank and a healer, you should be good at first.

Honestly, people say Etrian Odyssey is crazy hard, but I look at it like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls - if you're patient, you will be rewarded. I prefer Etrian Odyssey over a lot of similar games (like Dark Spire), largely because it has been streamlined and polished to the extent that I don't mind the punishing difficulty.

Oh my God, I am so tired.

X-Com is at fault.

Quick and dirty: Chrysalids still suck ass.

I think I'm right on the edge of defeat. China and India are down the hole. Africa about to fall. I didn't realize that you could assign interceptors through the hanger menu until it was too late.

But all is not lost. For some reason, my deadliest trooper is A FREAKING SUPPORT GUY! He's shooting the lights out. Now that he's got the laser rifle, if a baddie is on the screen, it's hit. Dead. My snipers are jealous. He's like, "Sniper rifle? Screw that shit. I don't need no S.C.O.P.E."

[cat like typing deleted]

Damn cat. She's decided the computer is a good place to lay down.

Time to work.

I figured that out pretty early when I threw a satellite over Canada while being stationed in Germany. They were like, "Well, ya big dummy. Now there's no way for you to intercept that UFO."

So I went into the hanger, poked around and saw that I could stick an interceptor there. Phew.

I keep running out of money while trying to upgrade my base. Sigh. And this is why I've never made it terribly far in X-Com in the past. I think TFTD was my favourite because it didn't kill me right away

Also, turning on Autosave is a godsend.

Agreed. I HATED first person dungeon crawlers until EO made me fall back in love with the genre. I have tried others that have come out since, but EO has just the right mix of anime polish, RPG unlockables and, most importantly, CARTOGRAPHY!

I have EO3 in my 3DS right now... If I wasn't so busy at the moment, I'd be tempted to play it for a little bit!

Yeah. If I remember right, I got all the way to the big scary boss at the end of the post-game dungeon. But that badass was just a bit too much for me. Crazy intense.
