Thanks. The cool thing is if people create NPC's, locations, monsters, or get character portraits he is one of the ones who will do them.

I really do think that every single person show start a KickStarter. The amount of negativity that you receiver really will train you for other things in life...like war. On the other hand you get to find out just how interested people are in something you may have not thought they were interested in. Very unique process.

Also people can't read...like at all.

Teach a class and you will learn that. I hand them out stuff with exactly when stuff is and I still get asked about when tests etc. are every day for weeks.

I think concerning negativity it is just a mixture of cynicism, today's market, past Kickstarter failures to deliver and sometimes...jealousy. I write that last one because I had an insightful discussion with another forums moderator that opened my eyes to some of the internal workings of websites, the people who run them, and their forumgoers. This person was pretty irate and his complaints weren't making a lot of sense. I finally PM'ed him and we had an almost 2 hours discussion and he admitted at the end, that he had wanted to do a KickStarter and every-time someone comes out with one that has any ideas or similarities to his he crashes it. I turned him around, he donated a big pledge when we were done and wrote me an apology.
Sadly the damage I am sure, to an extent at least, was done in that area.
And frankly no-one has the time to do that to everyone. I have found that if I track down most people the complaints are 1 liners and many times not even true. But people are somewhat sheepish. I found one thread where someone said something patently false that had 11 posts agreeing with him. When I went in and informed them that the original post was wrong. The OP stated, "ya I guess you are right I really didn't read about it." Jezuz.

On the other hand I had another great discussion last night with someone who just had questions and concerns and was adult about it. Sadly that post doesn't get noticed half as much as a post that starts with, "Duder this is all shitty man look at the art. I draw better since 3rd grade. Bet they just take money and run." Hahahahahaha

Ugh, that's crazy, but not really surprising. Ignore the haters and keep on trucking.

When in doubt, think about the lowest common denominator of the world, then take off a few points because it is the internet. You wouldn't concern yourself with their comments or opinions in real life, so don't worry about them online.

You have something pretty awesome here. Just stick to it and ignore the chaff.

Well we try of course. Sadly this can impact a donation or 2. So when I see it I go through a pretty detailed analysis of what has been said and the posters past history. If I feel like they are open to some discussion I try. Otherwise you bet I move on

Thanks! If we don't make it we will be rolling out a card deck as a seperate Kickstarter with art from both Boco and Diego Candia(the two highlighted artists) and then redo the AfterEarth kickstarter in a month.
It makes sense to split the card deck into its own Kickstarter as entire projects are wrapped around cards these days.

Well the entire game is based on using normal poker cards for the rules.
We also offer our own specialized deck of cards with art from the AfterEarth Artists.
If we don't make it those will be a separate Kickstarter like the Cythulu cards on Kickstarter right now.

For example we have 6 back designs for the cards. 2 so far and they are my favorite because they do not skew towards normal poker deck style card backs and they also follow the motto of science, versus firepower, versus magic that AfterEarth is all about. But we also have some people designing more traditional backs as well.

Their will be a normal and limited card deck. With different backs we are calling "Certain" and "Uncertain". They correspond to mankinds future in the world.

In all honesty, I would have gone the card route at the start. I imagine they'd be a much smaller total goal, and far more attainable. But I'm VERY happy to know this simply won't die out if it doesn't hit its mark. I love what you're doing here, and want you to succeed. LET ME LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH YOU, MAN!!

Ya we will do the cards first then the RPG at a lower goal with some changes but people will still be able to contribute. Funny thing is, from the remarks I get basically we would have been above our current goal had we just placed the goal far lower. My fault. I wanted to offer everyone everything we had right from the start.
Kickstarter is...unique.

FYI though we weren't able to go the card route first due to the way our art came together. Also even if we don't make this first Kickstarter we have more than enough backers and people interested that rolling out the cards now can be done to a fanbase we have. As well as the invite to the con in Portland to speak on a panel next year. For a first try we have had a tremendous amount of people contacting us. That was awesome to say the least. We even had a professional editor offer us a contract at maybe 1/3rd the cost for the next Kickstarter try with the RPG. Which helps us bring the goal down even farther.
