Nope, it's Days of the Future Past. Patrick Stewart is set to return.

Not necessarily. Stewart was asked by someone in a coffee shop if he would come back to X-Men, and he said yes. Other outlets took that to mean that he's locked in for DOFP because they're hitwhoring hacks. I'm not saying he's not in it, as far as anyone is telling he's not.

As for the Xavier's Eleven idea, it won't be in DOFP, but Fox has said they're going to do more present day X-Men movies, and there's speculation that the time travel stuff in DOFP will be the RealityPunch that lets them reboot the modern X-Men line.

Maybe they will tie in Daredevil and X-men. Marvel have opened a can of worms. Paramount is already building a Tom Clancy franchise with Kevin Costner as the Fury-gel.

Comixology is having a Justice League 201 sale:
http://www.comixology.com/Justice-Le...collection/669

Picks; JLA: Year One, Grant Morrisson's JLA, Giffen/DeMattias/McGuire Justice League/International, Justice League: Generation Lost, The New Frontier and the Nail.

They can still hold their heads high though, because they didn't publish Avengers vs X-Men.

So Avengers vs X-Men is... over. Spoilers kiddies.
Overall, it was a predictably mediocre event. Had a couple good moments, but dragged on too long and had too many writers. It was very intentionally designed to recapture the massive sales that Civil War generated, but it ended up encountering the same problem: no matter what the PR line is at the beginning, one side is going to be made into the bad guy. At which point Captain America makes a bunch of soliloquies telling us why the other side is bad.

The only real twist was the Phoenix Five. Everything else - Cyclops turning into the uber-fascist, Xavier dying, Hope & Wanda reigniting mutants - was telegraphed a mile away, if not before the event began. It wasn't all bad - there were a bunch of really good tie-ins IMO, Uncanny and Wolverine & The X-Men in particular - but it wasn't very good either. The end just seemed to drag out, mostly because the last few issues came out a month apart rather than 2 weeks apart as they should have. There were also just too many cooks in the kitchen. I don't mind the trio of lead artists - although they used about eleventy zillion inkers between them, which didn't help - but having 5 writers was excessive. Had they let Aaron, or Aaron and Hickman, script it alone it may have been better. With that sort of committee working on it, the book got muddled and homogenized to the nth degree.

But in the end...you knew the Avengers would win. My inner 12 year old X-Men fanboy wanted the X to win, but I knew they wouldn't. Partly for story reasons (the X-Men always have to be underdogs, not champions) but mostly because the Avengers are seen as the flagship, and the X-Men just aren't. Not after the movies, especially.

I'm a sucker, so I'm looking forward to some of the new books, but the treadmill is getting more and more exhausting. Mostly because I'm pretty sure we'll start hearing about the next mega event by February.

They already mentioned Ultron War at DICE.

I think that's going to be a stand alone book rather than a Crisis-War deal

Yet almost the entire event was the Avenger's fault. Also fun is the fact the Phoenix Five are being hunted/arrested, nevermind the fact they'd been unwillingly possessed by a cosmic entity at the time. Really the whole event was about the staggering amount of racism in the MU.

Still, even with all the bullshit, he still won.

Hmmm does that make Wolverine the "house Negro" of this analogy?

Worse really, it was him who dragged the Avengers into warring on his own kind, Cap losing all credibility in the process. Beauty of it all being the Avengers never really gave a shit about the Phoenix until it was going to reignite the mutant gene. Before then it was just mutie shit.

Jonathan Hickman talks about Avengers and New Avengers, with the first covers for NA

I'm a huge Hickman mark, so I'm very, very interested in these books. Click the link if you want to see the New Avengers lineup, but it's... conflicted.

Oh, and according to the Daily Mail (so grains of salt all around) Whedon is looking to include Ms Marvel in Avengers 2, and the leading candidates for the role are Emily Blunt and Ruth Wilson. Putting another female on the team can only help, and Danvers has the most straight-forward and cinematic powers of any prominent Avengers woman.

Danvers is also painfully bland.

I see Namor gets off scot-free as well. Must be nice having friends in high places.

I'm still hoping for the Namor-Hope buddy book written by Gillen.

As for Carol. She's bland, but so are all of the other female Avengers. As are almost all of the male Avengers, including the ones in the movie. Downey has done more to make Stark interesting than any writer in the last 20 years. If they get a good actress for the role - and I don't know enough about Blunt or Wilson to pass judgement - she'll be interesting. If they get a model-type with no personality, then she won't be. Which do you think Whedon is going to push for?

He was offered a slot when they first joined, but he turned them down. I'd guess he's joining in Hickman's run on Avengers.
