Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams Preview
Kickstarter has been something of a driving force this year regarding video games getting made. Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams in a fantastic looking example of crowd funding in action. Is it worthy of your attention? I think so, let's explore why. ![]() Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams (Giana from here on), is a beautiful looking platformer that has many of the things you expect, collecting gems, fighting enemies, and avoiding hazards. What is does differently however takes you to a completely different world, literally. Giana has the power to warp the Dream that she is in into a nightmarish world where her darker powers are unleashed. In the dark world her abilities change from subtle to aggressive. You'll need to master both sides of her abilities to succeed. Mastering all her powers will become critical to success. ![]() In addition to platforming goodness, you'll also need to defeat Boss monsters. These creatures come from the depths of her nightmares, so get ready for a fight! There are going to be 16 levels to explore with dark and light versions of each. Keep an eye out for secret locations! Giana comes out October 23rd for PC with console releases sometime next year. If you're interested in the game you can check out the demo here. |

Tried the demo and enjoyed it but wasn't bowled over. Felt really floaty to me. The design is beautiful and I'm such a sucker for platformers that I can see myself grabbing it down the road if still not totally sold on the idea. Anxious to see opinions on the full-game now.

I backed it. I'm a big fan of the modern platformer revival movement that's going on, and they've got some cool ideas.

It's also worth noting that the composer for the original game is back on board alongside Machinae Supremacy, I know there's a few fans of the band on here.

I'm interested in this one and will likely pick it up, although I do think it's a little bizarre for them to tout the "uniqueness" of the dual-world given how often that's been done before.
Still, I like the art-style and it looks like fun.

That touting was more me than anything, since I have less experience with platformers than many.
