"Be present". Meaning be fully present, without distraction, exist in the moment. It can be tough for both parties. Reminds me of that old GIF where the girl obsesses about the guy's distance over the course of a day, and what it means to their relationship. Of course, his only extraneous thought the whole day was, "I wonder why my motorcycle won't start".

What they said. It sounds to me like she thinks you're distracted in some way. She might be wrong, but maybe she has a point. How was she explaining it that, in your mind, made her sound like a psychopath? And did you actually tell her she sounded like a psychopath? If so, why!?

You are certainly not helping lessen the stereotype about men being clueless.

You mentioned you have a good female friend. Take the dialog from the psychopath to a translator, meaning your friend. She may be able to help you see a different interpretation of the psychopath's words. Let's hope she can help you.

My boyfriend and I were laying on my bed, talking and cuddling a bit. Suddenly he grabbed he, said "Get off the bed!" and pushed me up. I looked around, and there was a giant centipede that was just about to run up my arm. I thought about burning the place down, but he grabbed a paper towel and got rid of the hideous beast.

I think I'll marry this man.
