In Other News...October 1

- EA has clarified what DLC will be included in the Mass Effect Trilogy bundles for the 360 and PC, although PS3 DLC info is still TBA. Basically the each version gets the DLC you would have received had you bought the games at launch: the Cerberus Network for ME2, and the Online Pass for ME3. PC players will also get the Pinnacle Station and Bring Down the Sky modules for ME1. 360 owners will have to buy those separately on XBL. EA will also be making the original Mass Effect available as a standalone purchase on PSN for $15 when the Trilogy releases next month.

- The previously announced remake of Abe's Oddysee has a new name and a release window. You'll be able to play Abe's Oddysee: New n' Tasty - the 2.5D remake of the classic puzzle platformer - in Q4 2013.

- Sony is running a new deal on PSN: spend $100 in October, get a $20 voucher in November.

- Valve's Chet Faliszek says that a third Left 4 Dead will probably happen "sometime down the road", but the developer has no plans to start work on it anytime soon. They're still creating content for L4D2, including a Linux version and a host of new scripting tools that are set for release sometime later this month.

- Well this is strange. Do you remember Jonathan from Buffy the Vampire Slayer? He was one of the Nerds of Doom from Season 6. Well he's become one of the hottest screenwriters in Hollywood, and has been tapped to script the final two Hunger Games films. This after winning a pair of Emmys for the HBO series Game Change.

Nerds of Doom?! They were called The Trio. Also, good for him.

There was a time when I thought Valve was going to release Left 4 Dead titles on a yearly basis.

It's kind of strange how quickly that came and went. I guess that happens to a lot of games though.

I would be kind of fun to the internet riot that ensues if/when L4D 3 came out before HL3.

I can't think of any other game series where the sequel came out so fast, was extremely well received and the developer decided not to release a 3rd game.
The closest I can think of is the Command and Conquer games, where it just took forever for the 3rd game to come out (C&C to Red Alert.)

I'd probably like L4D if they came out yearly.. at a cheaper price, but I'm okay with L4D2.. even though I haven't played it in years.

Not including all the DLC for the first two titles at least was pretty lame, especially when no improvements or additions are being added to the games themselves.

Between mods, crossovers and L4D 1 campaigns, the game has enough content for 2 more sequels.

He also did The Game Change for HBO. Apparently his attempts at being a screenwriter are successful. Sadly, his attempts being referred to as something other than Jonathan from Buffy have crashed and burned.

Sweet, I was going to buy at least a couple of Vita games on PSN this month anyway. $20 off Persona 4: The Golden? Yes please.

I'm surprised that the remake of Abe's Odyssee is taking so long, but I'm looking forward to that one.

I didn't expect them to include any paid DLC in that Mass Effect pack at that price, but to me it makes more sense to charge a bit more and throw it in there. If you buy a complete pack you want it to be complete.

Yeah, I'm in the "Why didn't they just charge more and do a complete ME pack" but then I suppose people would bitch it costs too much and they don't want 'Bringing Down the Sky' DLC.

There is DLC you can easily skip which isn't worth it in ME so the cheaper pack will allow you to tailor more.

muddi, yeah, you'd think that with a name like Danny Strong he'd be able to convince people to call him by his name, rather than Jonathan.

Zero, agreed. I don't know what this Nerds of Doom business is. They were always the Trio as far as I remember.
