WeekDAY gaming(10/1/12)- What are YOU still playing?
ADDGirl is taking a rest. Some shots of Thorazine I hope will provide her with the much needed help. Maybe some electroshock therapy next if that does not help. She is a stubborn patient.
Purple Santa asked me to provide a thread. Since all of you can use some mental health tips here are mine: 1. Connect with others- Develop and maintain strong relationships with people around you who will support and enrich your life. The quality of our personal relationships has a great effect on our wellbeing. Putting time and effort into building strong relationships can bring great rewards. Play lots of co-op or multi-player games. A game a day... 2. Take time to enjoy. Set aside time for activities, hobbies. Seems if you are coming to this forum, you have this covered. Might show compulsive traits too. 3. Participate and share interests. Join a club or group of people who share your interests. Seems you have this covered too. 4. Contribute to your community. Contribute at least half your month's salary to a project being done by that crazed loony Karak. He's a sociopath but he knows how to create an interesting world. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...modify-with-us 5. Take care of yourself. Be active and eat well. I've read what some of you put into your bodies. I weep for all of you. 6. Challenge yourself. I'd say this is for everyone but Karak. The man has tempted death enough for 10 lifetimes. 7. Deal with stress. Be aware of what triggers your stress and how you react. Punching others in the face does not count as a positive coping skill. 8. Rest and refresh. Get plenty of sleep. From a bunch of sleep-induced psychotic bunch, i'm not expecting this. 9. Notice the here and now. Take a moment to notice each of your senses each day. Simply ‘be’ in the moment – feel the sun and wind on your face and notice the air you are breathing. Basically stop playing all those games for two minutes! 10. Ask for help. Bhahahahahhahahaha. Now that I have attempted to do the impossible, make this group mentally healthy, I return to my real practice. I hope to see some of you eventually in the asylum. What are YOU still playing?

When I get really stressed, I play Jeopardy with my dog and then act condescending when she gets answers wrong.
This week, it's FFXIII-2 and school.

This week, it's more of the same, only in slightly different priorities.
Xenoblade Chronicles - I've made it to a big floating city, and I last saved somewhere in the middle of some plot development. I think I need to look into raising the affinities of some of my characters, as two of them are very close, but everyone else seems to be stuck at their base. I've changed up the adventuring party, but I don't think that's quite enough. Borderlands 2 - I play more or less when my brother's around and playing with me. But then I discovered that he's been playing more, having made an alt character and raising his badass rank when I wasn't looking. So I started up my own alt. Haven't done much with it yet, but it could happen. Diablo III - This is slowly dropping on the priority list, but I still like to play periodically. I ran into someone last week who seemed interested in playing with me, but hasn't materialized yet. That seems to be my experience with everyone and this game, except my wife. She doesn't play much anymore, but she played a lot more than she usually does in a game. And I often skip these other smaller games, but that's not fair: FTL - I now have access to a total of four ships, and the second layouts of two of them. Yet despite that, I have my doubts I'll ever actually finish the game. It keeps pulling me back. Half Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy - The new art style doesn't offend me as much as it does some people. It's been a while since I've played it on PSP, so I'm digging it. Persona 2: Innocent Sin - I play this before bed, on those nights that I don't just crash immediately. Since I hit one of the new dungeons as soon as it was available, I'm now way overleveled. I'm something like fourteen levels above the enemies in the current dungeon. I need to finish this before P4Golden comes out. I've got just under two months. |

Darksiders 2- with an FXAA injector mod this game looks incredible.
Donkey Kong Country Returns - looks amazing in HD and plays awesome to boot. Best platformer I have played in a decade at least.

I didn't make much progress in anything over the weekend, so I'll be playing the same games: Borderlands 2, Pokemon Diamond, and Tokyo Jungle.
I'll probably also spend a lot of time catching up on TV shows for the fall season, which I should have done over the summer. And maybe I'll finally get back into some of the books that I left partially read. |

So, after transferring to this new college I found out that, even though I have a fucking degree in information technology, I need to take the absolute most basic computer course as a basic requirement. I'm currently taking five quizzes on the usage of a mouse. I had a whole quiz just now on the concept of dragging. Later, I get to take a quiz on the number pad! Some example questions and answers:

Holy christ those questions about computers...LORD.
Me. I guess I am preparing to either work on the Kickstarter or kill someone. Between Purple and the doctor who knows. Though it is strange that the one poster with dueling personalities is saying I have a problem.

This weekend was brutal on my old body - two moves in two days. Tonight I'm going to sleep like a rock.
Any free gaming time I get this week will go to NHL13, Borderlands2, and Battlefield 3 on the PC. Still acclimating to the mouse and keyboard controls, but I'm getting better. Also not sure I like the Battlelog-style of launching games from a web browser, but whatever. It looks and runs fantastic.

This week I have a ridiculous amount of shit going on, on top of being on call for work, so I doubt much gaming will be had. I'll find time for more Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which has become the front runner for game of the year for me. Amazing, amazing game.

"What is the correct Immediate Action in a nuclear detonation?" 1. Crawl under the nearest cover. 2. Lie down and cover your head. 3. Face away from the detonation. 4. Perform an Immediate Action. The answer is 4. The correct Immediate Action is to perform an Immediate Action. Absolutely bewildering.

On the other hand, for her degree my wife had to take a course in Microsoft Office. While it was mostly pointless, she did learn a couple of tricks in Excel and Word that didn't know and have since incorporated into my regular use. |

Oh man. Those tests are pretty hard!
And I think the correct Immediate Action in a nuclear detonation would be #5: Vaporize. Speaking of nuclear detonations, holy crap, they're going off left and right at work today. I stopped in at one location to be greeted with some rather interesting news about activities that took place over the weekend, which I'll have to spend half my day following up on. And then I go to the new location and find out that the staff didn't bother to do any of the things I asked them to do over the weekend and are basically acting like I'm speaking gibberish when I talk to them. It's also annoying because the person I'm taking over for is basically telling me, "Well, I'm not there any more. Not my problem!" which is not helping me keep cool. ARG! *deep breaths* Anyway, to help me stave off my Hulk-like rage monster, here's what I'll hopefully play this week: P3P (Vita) - I actually did play this. Still haven't done exams but I was eating snacks that make me smart and talking to strangers. Then I nodded off in the middle of a cutscene so I need to reload my last save ![]() Torchlight 2 (PC) - I spent waaaay more time playing this yesterday than I expected to. I'm on the 3rd act and look like some kind of evil spirit with a rocket pack given my current armour configuration. And I have a pretty awesome axe. Borderlands 2 (PC) - Gotta get more guns. I've seen some awesome grenades out there too. Soooo jealous of the MIRVs... And of course, more Hero Academy (PC/iOS) - I've gotten a little sloppy in some of these games, but they're also much longer affairs than before. I had one match where it was my gang of engineers and priestesses against a dwarf bomber... Sigh.

I'm finally all settled in from my move, and ready to get back in to a gaming routine. This week I'm working swing shifts form 6 to Midnight so I have all week to game during the day. I plan to utilize my time to the fullest, especially since the good weather that was advertised on Accuweather has yet to materialize.
I'll be gaming on: WoW: Mists of Panderia Diablo 3 Torchlight (XBOX360) The only thing I seem to have lost in the move is my damn Vita charger. I have a brand new unopened copy of Unit 13 that my brother in law got me for my birthday that I'd love to give a spin, but my Vita is dead. Bah.

I believe my love of games started years ago, after I murdered my family with a hammer because of Donkey Kong...
This weeks games will be: Final Fantasy XIII: STILL on Chapter 11. It takes a while to run across Gran Pulse, and so I've only finished 7 missions there. Wat. Dragon Quest IV: Good progress on this one. I think I'm halfway done. Guild Wars 2: I make the dead rise and cover things in bees! And when I'm not doing that, I'm pretending to be Conan, which is rough because that character is level 3.
