The FIFA 13 Thread

Anybody else playing this? I picked it up on Origin for $40, and while I haven't been playing soccer games for very long (didn't like FIFA 11, really liked 12), this one is a ton of fun. So far I've just been doing tournaments and exhibition games, but I want to try my hand at managing a team (naturally, I'll be playing as Arsenal). Any pointers on how to start out?

I have been out of the loop for a while now. I play here and there, but I can only really manage one sports game a year because I usually play the heck out of whatever I choose and this year it was NHL'13.

Ultimate Team is actually taking playing time away from Borderlands. I'm determined to get that all-gold team.

I played it for a while over the weekend (Xbox 360) and I'm digging it so far. Like Madden, I don't really have the time to get into the nitty gritty - instead focusing on Career, etc.

The player likenesses have come a long way in the last three years! They now look less like clay models and more like humans.

Gameplay-wise, nothing much has changed. The physical heft of the players has been tweaked a little and the response time to button pressed has been greatly improved.

One thing I'm still unsure about is the default difficulty settings. Granted these can be tweaked to perfection, but going from the default semi-pro difficulty to the pro difficulty is a massive leap - you'll coast on semi-pro and likely get beaten badly on pro. It's a niggle, but it's something I wish EA Sports would work on.

Can you play with the AI sliders like in NHL13 which has the same problem (in my mind?).

At least in NHL, you can fiddle with the sliders to bring the difficulty up or down.

Yeah, you can, but it's time consuming and a pain in the arse.

A friend of mine has this (I think it's this one), and I found it hilarious that to use the voice functions he had to set the language to English - Cockney.
