My life for Aiur!

Yea, my first game of TI was 17 hours I think. It is a beast. A blast though.
Dominion is great. Once you get the hang of it, it goes quick.

Yeah, I keep thinking I want to try Thunderstone. The idea of Dominion with a better theme is super appealing to me.

I played thunderstone first then tried dominion and though it was just a simpler form of thunderstone...but obviously still a good game.

I *think* I just finished my first game of Twilight Imperium but I didn't read the instructions very closely. Does the game primarily consist of clipping hundreds of little ships out six different plastic frames? If so, I totally won!

Ya it shows an extra touch I think. It also allows them to do things like tag the bags and explain exactly what it in them. This can help with setup when you have 40,000 icons and bits and you have to look back and forth from the rulebook to the pieces. I would say it has saved me at least five or six hours of confusion between the 2-3 games that have arrived this way.
The last one the tags read things like "Health Icons 47 pieces. Seperated as 30 large, 10 medium, 7 small."

Yeah, you really want Thunderstone Advance; it's as close to 2.0 as it'll get, and I think AEG is sticking with it going forward. You can use old cards with it with a little converting, but it also has it's own expansion now, with more planned.
However, I have Dragonspire and Wrath of the Elements I'd sell you if you were interested; hardly played with...

I just hosted a board game night for a few friends and we are going to make it a weekly thing. We will always have at least 4 players but most likely 6-8 so I am looking for game suggestions.
So far we have and enjoy Small World, Zombies!!!, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Pandemic. On a side not we played pandemic with 6 players 1 of which being the bio terrorist from the expansion. For the first time ever we had beat the game... then we found out you lose if you run out of the player cards. holy hell I don't know how you can beat that game without reshuffling that deck, what a challenge. EDIT: I see this was just asked so ignore me for being dumb although I was on my phone hence not reading the previous posts. I am picking up Wits and Wagers Family later on this week.

How is Betrayal? Always been interested but never jumped. Seems to be right up my alley with the "storytelling" mechanic but was always just a wee bit hesitant.

It is really fun and the replayability is high. It is fun starting on a team and having one or two of your own turned against you and never knowing when that will happen. I highly recommend it.

I was a big fan of Betrayal back when I had more regular board game nights with friends. Not every scenario is as polished as others, as some can be very unbalanced depending on how large the house gets, and how well-equipped the team is, before it activates. Still fun, though.

Seems to echo what I've heard. Appreciate the impressions! One more thing to add to the list, I guess...

Yeah it should be played with reasonable people that get along. Not every scenario is clear cut on a rule or role so you kind of have to decide what is meant or in the nature of the game occasionally.

My group consists of family and friends (who might as well be family) so that shouldn't be too difficult. We love games that offer a bit of cooperation which leads to general distrust and backstabbery (Battlestar, etc.).
