C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
Greatest Movie Ever Sold I don't think what Morgan Spurlock makes can be considered documentaries. Michael Moore likes to insert himself into the subject of his films, but Spurlock goes 5 steps further and becomes the subject of his films, by committing wild stunts like this one; Make a movie about product placement, funded by product placement. Selling out to show how selling out works. That is not to say it wasn't good. It was very good. Very very good. It achieves it's goals without it's mind-blowing meta-textual nature hindering itself.

I went and saw End of watch today and I thought it was a powerful movie.
Not as epic as training day, but still one I would recommend watching. The writing was well done and there were a few moments that really got to my fatherly side.

I finally watched The Expendables last night. For what it should have been, that movie was kinda bad. Also, with a major movie such as that, how does your big fight scene turn out to be so dimly lit? For what I was expecting out of the cast, it should have been more.

Resident Evil Retribution
Wow, even for a RE film this one really went into overdrive on the cheese and game fan service. It was hilariously cheesy and rolled out nigh every game character. I found it rather amusing that they also completely negated to mention what the fuck happened to Claire and Chris Redfield and no one asked!

I just watched Flightplan. Wow that movie was turrrrrible. The 'twist' was so predictable and the premise was lame as hell.
Jodie Foster is one of my fave actresses but man did she overact like a somebitch in this one. Also poor Sean Bean. But at least he didn't die in this one.

Chronicle: Not bad. Would have preferred it without it being a found footage movie. Didn't like any of the characters so the movie fell pretty flat for me.
Attack The Block: Pretty good, but again it was hard to like the main characters. Men In Black 3: I enjoyed it for the most part. Jermaine Clement was amusing as Boris. Not as awful as people made it out to be. Friday the 13th (2009): Meh. Soulless remake. some nice deaths, but that was about it. Halloween (2007): Not awful. I enjoyed it for the most part. Some parts just felt pointlessly similar to the original. Iron Sky: Thoroughly enjoyable crap.

At the end of the 4th film, Claire and Chris are both with Alice (if I remember right)
You never see them again in the 5th film. Muddi - because it's funny.

Watched The Hunger Games with the new Rifftrax last night. I'm definitely glad I waited until a riff for this one.
Didn't really like any of the characters, except maybe Woody Harrelson. Still can't stand Jennifer Lawrence, still can't stand shaky cam. Donald Sutherland did a good job. The riff was hilarious. Tons of laugh out loud moments for me. Highly recommended. |

My wife and I watched Hugo the other night.
Not bad. Not even close to what I was expecting (story-wise), but I ended up enjoying the historical fiction aspect of it. Plus, it was pretty. |

I had zero interest in Hugo based on the trailer and grabbed it from the library on a whim and my wife and I loved it. Also not remotely what I was expecting out of the story (again, given the trailer) but was more than happy with how it turned out.

I watched Take Shelter. It is an unsettingly accurate portrayal of paranoid schizophrenia. Trust me. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. In a lot of ways it feels like it subverts the impact of bringing poignant awareness to the disease.

I had a spontaneous double-feature last night: went to see Looper and, as we were leaving, walked past the adjacent theater and noticed that ParaNorman was starting. So we just saw that, too. Both were great.

Southland Tales... if you like it, fine, but it's a strong contender for the worst movie I've ever seen.
