So, in that article, they have a quote from "Will Powers", who was laid off with a large number of their PR workers.

When I saw that, I said "wait, it couldn't be..." and did some digging.

YUP. Will Powers is Cyrus, the "winner" of the first season of The Tester. As some of you may recall, he's also a douche who Googles himself, and threatened to beat me up because I said he had a punchable face (which he does).

Hey, Cyrus UNCyrus Will Powers @WillJPowers @UNCyrus William J Powers -
I'm glad you got fired. I'm glad that instead of getting into the games industry, you became a Twitter Monkey whose only appreciable skill was saying "HOO BOY I SURE DO LIEK SONY GAMES" in less than 140 characters, and then weren't even important enough to keep your pretend job. I hope that the most impressive thing you ever do is win the tester, and your grandchildren are ashamed of you.

Yeah, it was very highly rated among critics and the community. Balls hard apparently though.

Good to know, thanks. I wish the that more Wii titles would drop to the $10-$20 range. It would be nice to pick some up and try them out in Dolphin.

You probably already know this, but you can't just put a Wii disc in the drive and play it with an emulator like you can a PS2 game.

If I remember right, Retro also helped with a lot of core Nintendo games. I believe that they assisted in the development of SMG 2, as an example.

I hope Retro along with other Nintendo studios have been making the transition to 1080p graphics during their silence.

No, I was not aware of that. What's the problem?

I'll have to check it out if/when I ever have a way of playing Wii games.

Yeah, the Wii discs have some fairly hardcore data protection that make it impossible to directly read the discs. Certain DVD drive models can be used to dump the data and then that dump can be played.

Weak. I kind of wanted to try Dolphin out. Not worth the effort.

Yeah basically it's the easiest way. Even dumping the data yourself seems a bit troublesome.

I've been trying to get the Wii ripping programs to work for the past few weeks... And it's just not working for me. In the end I had to torrent my own games just to see if Dolphin was working. Shame really, I'd love to just pop the disc in and boot it up.

In terms of dumping Wii games to the hard drive for use in Dolphin:

I modded my Wii and plugged in a huge hard drive. The Wii has homebrew software that will let you dump a game disc to the hard drive. I don't know if the dumped data is in the same format needed for Dolphin or not, but having my Wii library a click away was most excellent. I actually was more likely to buy a game since I knew I could dump it to the hard drive and quickly switch between them.

The program I'm using (cleanrip I think) breaks down the game into parts and you have to fit it all back together on your PC to get it running on Dolphin

I figure I'm violating the EULA anyway, and downloading a ROM takes a fraction of the time and effort.

I can understand someone being sensitive about downloading copyright material via bittorrent.
