New Playstation 3 Super Slim Announced

Sony used the opening day of the Tokyo Game Show to announce a new hardware revision for the Playstation 3. The new model, which I think we'll all agree to call the Super Slim, is "20% smaller and 25% lighter" than the current PS3 Slim model, which is itself a lot smaller than the original PS3 hardware. The new Super Slims will come in 250GB and 500GB models.

The new Super Slims will go on sale next week, with the 250GB model retailing for $269, which is a $20 increase over the current PS3 price, but it includes the GOTY version of Uncharted 3 and a digital content pack for Dust 514 that includes $30 worth of in-game items. The 500GB model will, for now, only be available in a bundle with Assassins' Creed III for $299.

Awesome! I have been waiting for any news about either a price cut or a bundle or SOMETHING since my PS3 has been dead for several months now.

I wanted to get an Assassin's Creed 3 bundle and now it looks like I'll be able to get it. Yay!

Too bad the 500 Gb bundle doesn't include the stuff from the 250 Gb bundle. Part of me was immediately interested and the part of me said "You already have too many PC and 360 games you haven't played, why would you get another platform."

Still internal.

In Europe there will be a 500 Gb version and a 12 GB version, with the option to put in a 2.5 inch SATA drive yourself if you want, with "an official Mounting Bracket".

I keep expecting the current-gen consoles to get down to $150-200. We are 7 years into this console generation and while the price has gone down significantly form the crazy $600 early on, it's never dipped down to include poor kids.
