Urge to make smarts comment about Dueling Cores rising.....

Honestly, I've never been really impressed with the Phys X stuff.

Green Man Gaming sent out their codes for Borderlands 2! I've never seen them do that before. At least I can download it to my desktop and laptop. It turns out my laptop can run it a little past minimum specs so I can play it when I go out of town this weekend.

Huh. What card do you need for the physx stuff? Is it 600 only or will my 560 work?

Just bought my copy on GMG and I can't freaking wait . I usually keep my excitement in check, but I feel that I already own the game, and it is d/l in Steam, but I know I can't play it for another three days! FWP

Pretty sure almost any nVidia card uses PhysX. I'm looking into getting the 680 for it. Although at PAX, they had the game running like butter on 660ti's.

Yea, my rig from 2007/8 with an 8800GTS did PhysX, and I think every card since then has supported it. I'm actually a pretty big fan and wish more games supported it. Blew me away in the destructible environment maps in Unreal Tournament III and all of the extra effects it added in Arkham Asylum.

I knew about how PhysX has been supported for ages, I was just wondering if they're using some new fangled Super Special Dragon Ultimate Tiger Edition of PhysX that's only supportedon the 600 series.

Any one else see the shenanigans from the Community Day livestream?

- Saw the level mechanic in action - in BL1 if you were overleveled you pretty much walked all over the mobs. Not so much here, a bunch of lvl 15's (I think?) couldn't put the beatdown on a bunch of lower lvl mobs.

- Saw gameplay from the Creature Slaughter Dome, plays out like one of the BL1 circles. Shoot the varykid pods!

- If you die mid-wave in CSD, you can't rejoin your team, but you can assist by shooting from the peanut gallery until you can rejoin them.

- Randy hinted at one of the DLC's to include some "Return of the Jedi" themed action, with sail barges and skiffs.

- TERRAMORPHOUS! The endgame setup is similar to Crawmerax (right down to the "plateau with the horseshoe cliff so you don't get slammed off the edge" motif) but WAY f'n harder than a Crawmerax match. Gorram tentacles!

- A GBX employee has managed to figure out a build to SOLO Terramorphous, but didn't say which it was. Rumor is that it was an Axton, but I have nothing solid to back that up.

I'm happy if they've really fixed the level mechanic. By about level 25 in Borderlands my Siren was killing everything in a couple of shots from her SMG and the final boss was dead in about half a clip. It was fun still, but not exactly a challenge anymore.

O hoe they add some difficulty levels too, because in BL1, once I got familiar with the game, I had very little trouble with encounters that should have been very hard.

They haven't done anything(in terms of being overleveled). If you are overleveled for an area it is trivially easy. I watched a lvl 25 character basically 1-hit everything, up to and including badasses in a lvl 15-17 area in a video that included Pitchford himself, who kept saying, "you're so OP, so overleveled." so people wouldn't think the game was always trivially easy.

What Wyeast saw at community day was actually some people who were beyond horrible at this game. Yes, if you are beyond horrible you can get swarmed by low-level stuff and die. Of course if you weren't beyond horrible it would be trivially easy to get a 2nd wind since you can 1-hit any member of said swarm.

I'm wondering if we're going to see stupidly powerful guns again. I've seen stuff that takes down Crawmerax in like 10 shots, though I suspect they were made with hacks.

I'm pretty sure that had to have been hacked. I didn't know it was possible, but my brother found a way to actually hack the weapons on his PS3 save. Nothing ended up being that good, but he made some pretty evil stuff.

That isn't hacked at all, you can kill Crawmerax pretty easy with 10 shots. You have to remember he wasn't a high HP/Armor/Resist boss, he was a gimmick boss where you could only cause damage in the weak points. On top of that the real danger was his minions, not Crawmerax himself. The last problem was that his final weak point was on his back and he wouldn't normally reveal that to you if you were solo so you had to either cheese him some way or survive his minions long enough so that you could get him turning around the pillars. It wasn't that hard as siren since you could go invis.

A top-tier Fearsome Skullmasher could take out each weak point with one shot as long as each round hit. A top-tier Fearsome Bessie could do it in 1-2.

For the minions you needed 3 guns, fire, electric, and poison, one for each type of minion since they were entirely resistant to anything else.

You could also kill Crawmerax in a matter of seconds with a super-high-tier SMG. I've seen videos of that but never had one quite that good or the right build to do it with.
